Not ready to jump into the minivan lifestyle with this year’s new Toyota Sienna? That’s ok; you don’t have to. Because, fortunately for you, there are plenty of SUV alternatives to the Toyota Sienna that will make the perfect fit for your growing family. Let’s find out which SUV alternative to the Toyota Sienna is the right choice for your brood.
The Kia Telluride is a well-rounded alternative to the Toyota Sienna
If you aren’t ready to commit to a minivan, the odds are you’re considering a three-row SUV instead. If that’s the case, you’re going to want to put this year’s new Kia Telluride at the top of your list. Much like the Toyota Sienna, this year’s Telluride offers up a wealth of interior space, both when it comes to seating and cargo. According to the IIHS, this year’s Telluride is pretty safe too. It even earned the title of Top Safety Pick.
There’s another reason to consider the Kia Telluride as an SUV alternative to the Toyota Sienna. Take a look at the numbers, and you’ll find pretty quickly that this year’s Telluride is the cheaper pick of the two. While the Sienna boasts a base price of $34,460, this year’s Telluride starts at $32,190.
The Toyota Highlander is an easy alternative to the Toyota Sienna
Maybe you’re the type of person that likes to stick with a specific automotive brand. In that case, consider the Toyota Highlander as an SUV alternative to the Toyota Sienna. Toyota makes both vehicles, and much like the Toyota Sienna, the Toyota Highlander comes standard with complimentary vehicle maintenance. But, that’s not the only reason to consider the Highlander as an alternative to the Toyota Sienna.
Unlike the Toyota Sienna, this year’s Highlander comes driven by a 295-hp 3.5-Liter V6 engine. According to Consumer Reports, the Toyota Highlander also did significantly better than the Sienna in its road tests. In fact, while the Highlander earned an 86 out of 100 in road tests, Consumer Reports says that the Sienna was only able to manage a score of 79 out of 100.
Ditch the Toyota Sienna and choose the Hyundai Palisade instead
If you aren’t quite sold on the Kia Telluride or the Toyota Highlander, why not consider the Hyundai Palisade as an SUV alternative to the Toyota Sienna? Much like the Toyota Highlander, this year’s Palisade did better than the Toyota Sienna in road tests.
In fact, according to Consumer Reports, the Hyundai Palisade earned an 88 out of 100 in its road tests, which is pretty impressive. The Hyundai Palisade also earned a slightly higher reliability rating than the Sienna. While the Sienna was given a three out of five predicted reliability rating, the Hyundai Palisade earned a four out of five predicted reliability rating.
The Hyundai Palisade is a cheaper alternative to the Toyota Sienna too. While a base model Sienna will run you around $34,460, the Hyundai Palisade boasts a base price of $32,675. And, much like the Sienna, the Palisade comes standard with complimentary maintenance for three years or 36,000-miles.
