Toyota is synonymous with reliability, and that reputation seems to extend to the marque’s hybrids in addition to its trucks, SUVs, and sedans. For instance, three of the top 10 hybridized cars in iSeeCars’ lifespan study are Toyota models. Not only do three Toyota models make the list, but they dominate it with the top three spots. The Toyota Prius, Highlander Hybrid, and Camry Hybrid have the potential to sail past 200,000 miles

What models of hybrids does Toyota make?

Toyota makes several hybrid models in SUV, crossover, sedan, and hatchback platforms. The Toyota Prius is a long-running hatchback and one of the original market-penetrating hybrids. Moreover, many existing Toyota models offer hybridized trim options. For instance, the Toyota Avalon Hybrid and Toyota Camry Hybrid boost the fuel economy figures for familiar models by 20 or more MPG.

Better yet, the Toyota Prius, Highlander, and Camry boast industry-leading longevity. In iSeeCars’ lifespan study, all three Toyota models took the top spots in the 10 longest-lasting models of the last 20 years.

How many miles do Toyota Hybrids last?

The Toyota Prius earned the top spot among hybridized models. According to iSeeCars, 1% of Prius models from 10 of the last 20 years have over 250,601 miles on their odometers. However, that’s not the limit of how far a Toyota Prius can go in its lifespan. Executive Analyst Karl Brauer of iSeeCars says that many of the vehicles in the study have the potential to keep going well beyond their potential lifespan figures. However, the Prius isn’t the only Toyota Hybrid that can go the distance.

The Toyota Highlander Hybrid has a potential lifespan of around 244,994 miles, meaning at least 1% of the hybrid SUV models have nearly 250,000 miles on their odometers. Moreover, the Camry Hybrid snags the number three spot in the lifespan study, with around 230,547 miles of potential lifespan. The closest competitors in the study are the Lexus RX 450h and the Hyundai Sonata Hybrid, which has a potential lifespan of around 184,887 miles.

Are Toyota Hybrids reliable?

The marque’s hybrids are pretty reliable. For instance, RepairPal gave the Toyota Prius a 4.0 out of 5.0 in reliability. That puts the Prius in the 10th spot out of 24 for midsize cars that RepairPal evaluated.

Moreover, the hybrids save their owners money when fuel costs are factored in over the lifetime of a hybrid vehicle. “They can save car owners up to $10,000 in fuel costs over the course of 250,000 miles compared to similarly-sized non-hybrid vehicles, making all those miles much easier to afford,” Karl Brauer said.

Do hybrids last longer than regular cars?

While many hybrid options last long enough to contend with conventional vehicles, standard vehicles tend to last longer in iSeeCars’ study. For instance, the Toyota Prius tops the list of hybrids with 250,601 miles. However, in the master list of vehicles of all types, the top five longest-lasting vehicles are conventional SUVs and trucks like the Toyota Sequoia, Toyota Land Cruiser, and Chevrolet Suburban.

However, Toyota also dominated the list of the longest-lasting vehicles. 10 of the top 20 vehicles are Toyotas.
