Is the Toyota Highlander a reliable three-row SUV?

If it’s a reliable three-row SUV that you’re after, you really can’t go wrong with a used Toyota Highlander. According to Consumer Reports, the Highlander has earned some pretty high marks in terms of reliability. While the current Highlander earned itself a four out of five predicted reliability rating, several model years before the 2021 Toyota Highlander earned a five out of five reliability rating. 

Consumer Reports isn’t the only one to have rated the Highlander either. Repair Pal reports that the Toyota Highlander has earned an ‘Above Average’ reliability rating. Repair Pal added that the Highlander’s average annual repair cost is approximately $489, meaning it has lower than average ownership costs. The frequency and severity of repairs are somewhat average when compared with all other vehicles, too, Repair Pal added.

How safe is a used Toyota Highlander?

You can count on a used Toyota Highlander to be a safe three-row SUV too. According to the IIHS, several model years were recognized as either a Top Safety Pick or a Top Safety Pick+.
