Anyone in the market for a new Toyota Corolla will be happy to know that the Nightshade Edition will be added to the trim lineup for 2024. The blacked-out special trim level will be available on the Corolla sedan, hatchback, and hybrid models. This goth treatment is a first for the hybrid trim, but it should be familiar, considering Toyota has given many of its models a Nightshade Edition in the past. Let’s see what’s in store for the 2024 Corolla.

What is so special about the 2024 Toyota Corolla Nightshade Edition?

The main draw when selecting the 2024 Toyota Corolla Nightshade Edition is the “murdered-out” look that it encompasses. That means the badges are blacked-out, and the front grille and trim pieces also carry a noir theme. Bronze 18-inch wheels fill the fender wells, a rear spoiler spruces up the sedan’s rear deck lid, and a surprisingly large wing brings some added pizazz to the hatchback body style.

The Nightshade Edition brings a couple of new color schemes as well. The Corolla Hybrid and sedan models will come in black, silver, and white, while the hatchback will be available in various two-toned color schemes, including white with a black roof, silver with a black roof, or solid black.

The Corolla Nightshade doesn’t bring any changes under the hood

Although the 2024 Corolla Nightshade Edition looks more aggressive than the non-murdered-out trim levels, Toyota didn’t add any more power to the equation. The Corolla Hybrid Nightshade is powered by a 1.8-liter engine paired with two electric motors, which give it a combined output of 138 hp. However, its real benefit is its stellar fuel efficiency, which is rated at 47 mpg by the EPA. All models will get a CVT fitted with a unique “first gear” that enables smooth and snappy acceleration.

The gas-powered sedan and hatchback trim levels are powered by a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine that makes 169 hp and can achieve up to a combined rating of 34 mpg. On the inside, the Nightshade models will be equipped with sport fabric seats, an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, and Toyota’s Safety Sense 3.0 as standard.

When can we expect to see the new 2024 Toyota Corolla Nightshade Edition?

The 2024 Toyota Corolla Nightshade sedan and hatchback should show up in dealerships around the third quarter of this year. Toyota has not released the exact pricing for these special models, but we expect it to start at around $26,000 since the trim level sits in the middle of the pack.
