Have you seen these Volkswagen sport utility vehicles lately? You can find the Taos, Atlas, and ID.4 on “best of” lists all over, including this list of the top three Volkswagen SUVs for 2023. Family-friendly, budget-appropriate, and technology-packed are just a few things these SUVs deliver on.

The Volkswagen Taos is one of the top three Volkswagen SUVs for 2023

Edmunds rated all of the Volkswagen SUVs in the lineup, including the 2023 Volkswagen Taos. Coming in with a score of 8.1 out of 10, it has plenty of safety features and technology to keep everyone safe. In fact, Edmunds says the Taos is ” one of the most well-rounded and family-friendly offerings in the class.”

Even though the Taos is technically a small SUV, it has enough cargo space for most situations. Forward collision mitigation and blind-spot warning are standard for 2023. Some of Edmunds’ favorite safety features are Automatic Post-Collision Braking and Emergency Assist.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave the 2023 Taos a four-star overall safety rating. That makes it one of the top three Volkswagen SUVs for 2023 and one of the safest.

MSRP range: $24,155 – $34,535

One of the top three Volkswagen SUVs for 2023 also includes the Atlas

If you need a three-row SUV with high praise from experts, the 2023 Volkswagen Atlas does it all. With an easy-to-use infotainment system, drivers and passengers will enjoy the Atlas experience. Even in the third row, this VW SUV has room.

Some of Edmunds’ favorite safety features are Blind-Spot Monitor, Park Distance Control, and Lane Keeping System. These help warn the driver of an impending collision or object in the way of the Atlas.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave the 2023 Volkswagen Atlas high scores on many of its tests. That includes the side impact, roof strength, and small overall front tests.

MSRP range: $34,600 – $51,790

Don’t overlook the electric Volkswagen ID.4

The 2022 Volkswagen ID.4 is one of the top three Volkswagen SUVs for 2023 that happens to be electric. It is a good option for those who want to hop into an electric vehicle without spending too much on the first try.

Volkswagen equipped the ID.4 with plenty of tech and 272 miles of range for the AWD Pro S. The average electric midsize SUV gets around 274 miles. Edmunds estimates it could cost $62 a month or so to charge monthly.

Adaptive Cruise Control, Driver Attention Warning, and Forward Collision Mitigation are some of the best safety features. These can help react to traffic signs and apply the brakes in some scenarios if a collision is imminent. The NHTSA gave the ID.4 a five-star overall safety rating, and the IIHS gave it a Top Safety Pick Plus award.

MSRP range: $41,230 – $49,410

There are more options in the lineup, but these are the best Volkswagen SUVs for 2023 so far. A 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 is on the way; Edmunds hadn’t quite fully rated it yet. Either is a good option that will get you from point A to point B safely and in style.
