Car owners have quite a bit to be concerned about regarding their vehicles. For starters, car theft is a significant problem. However, many worry about people vandalizing their beloved automobiles. This is going on in Arizona right now, as there have been several instances of tire slashing. Of course, it’s also expensive for auto mechanics to fix flat tires.

Tire slashing causes quite a few issues for vehicle owners, and it also creates a problem for police

According to KOLD, the Brisbee Police Department has been bombarded with reports of tire slashing lately. Apparently, this crime got on their radar a few weeks ago when several residents reached out after their tires were cut overnight. Bisbee Chief of Police Timothy Cox said, “There was an individual in the area screaming and making noises, and it looked like he had slashed some tires on a car.”

Sadly, tire slashing has only increased as the weeks have passed. The Chief of Police continued, “Property damage is up to 67 individual car tires.” It’s unfortunate that this is impacting anyone, but it’s especially notable that the staff at a local hospital had their tires slashed while they were at work overnight. One staff member from the hospital said, “For this vandalism to happen when we’re just here trying to help people. It’s a little bit disheartening.”

More recently, the tire slashing issue has also crept outside Brisbee and now impacts Copper Queen County as a whole. So, auto mechanics have been busy fixing flat tires lately. In some cases, car insurance providers don’t cover the cost of tire replacement, which means residents are on the hook for repairs. The police are still investigating the situation. They are telling drivers to park in well-lit areas.
