The Rattler package for the 2023 Ford F-150 is gone as soon as it arrived. Unfortunately, it sold out quickly, with people wanting the off-road package for their full-size truck. It’s an affordable alternative to high-end, performance off-roaders like the overpriced Raptor. What’s so good about the 2023 Ford F-150 Rattler that it’s already sold out for the model year? There are three reasons it’s already sold out.

1. It’s sold out because it’s an affordable off-road truck

The price is the first reason says the 2023 Ford F-150 Rattler is already sold out. According to CarBuzz, Ford introduced the package last year for $1,495, so bottom trims can have it for $42,690. We think the low price combined with the immense value it provides played a heavy role in it selling out quickly. While it’s undoubtedly no Raptor or even Tremor, this light off-road package for America’s most popular truck offers the perfect mix of features and value.

2. Surprisingly good off-road features

Next, the 2023 Ford F-150 Rattler is already sold out because of the surprisingly good off-road features. Furthermore, the Rattler package contains 18-inch wheels, all-terrain tires, a dual-exhaust system, a rattlesnake graphic, an off-road-tuned suspension, and skid plates. Together, those items cost a pretty penny for owners to upgrade a truck themselves.

Combining them all into a package that costs under $1,500 is an excellent value. Considering the price of tires and other off-road modifications, the Rattler provides a ton of value. The model can drive off of the paved road without customers having to overspend for some exterior graphics. Many other full-size trucks offer a similar off-road package that mostly makes it look more rugged. However, all-terrain tires, skid plates, and a dual-exhaust system are commonly locked behind higher-costing trims.

3. Is Rattler better than FX4 Off-Road?

According to Ford, the FX4 Off-Road package costs $1,095 for the F-150 XL base model. While it is still available, it doesn’t offer the value the Rattler package does. Ford says the FX4 Off-Road package adds an electronic locking rear axle, a bodyside decal, a tray-style floor liner, Hill Descent Control, off-road-tuned front shock absorbers, monotube rear shocks, Rock Crawl mode, and skid plates. While the equipment is plentiful, none are as valuable for off-roading as the features provided in the Rattler package. Now that the rattlesnake-themed trim is sold out, F-150 purchasers will have to choose the only other affordable option, the FX4 Off-Road package.

2023 Ford F-150 Rattler is sold out

According to CarBuzz, the 2023 Ford F-150 Rattler is sold out, and so is the 2024 model. The publication said the 2024 version was sold out before Ford switched the 2022 model to the 2023 version in its stores. The evidence is clear: the online configurator for the F-150 no longer shows the Rattler package as an available option. It is still possible that some local dealers might have one of these full-size trucks sitting around that’s got the off-road package included. Finding one will be difficult, but we’re sure it’s possible to get your hands on one before they all disappear.

Those who struggle to find any value in the FX4 Off-Road package will have to spend much more to get off-roading features with the F-150. For example, the Tremor costs $60,970, the Raptor costs $76,775, and the overkill Raptor R is over six figures. Although, we can’t say the supercharged 5.2-liter V8 doesn’t sound enticing.
