While there are some excellent deals on used 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee models that range from $12k to $20k, don’t let it fool you. This Jeep Grand Cherokee has the lowest reliability rating a vehicle can earn due to its issues.

2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee transmission problems

The 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee has a variety of transmission problems plaguing owners. The most common issue involves the inability to shift correctly. One driver had to replace the shifter because every time they put it into reverse, the Jeep shifted back into drive. Another driver struggled with their Jeep shifting back into neutral every time they put it in drive.

Another driver found that their transmission had trouble shifting gears when it was cold. They actually took their Jeep Grand Cherokee back to the dealership five times to address this issue, but no error codes were found.

Multiple drivers experienced issues with the acceleration. When trying to accelerate to merge onto the highway, sometimes their Jeep Grand Cherokee models would stop. Other times they would hesitate and take a moment before going forward. Often these issues are accompanied by suddenly jerking forward and vibrations.

2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee interior issues

The 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee also has a variety of interior and accessory issues. One major issue involves the leather bubbling on the dashboard. People expect a quality interior when they pay for a luxury vehicle they expect quality.

However, the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee fails to deliver. The bubbling dash looks pretty awful and started to occur right after people bought their Jeeps brand new. According to the dealerships, there was nothing they could do to fix this problem.

Many drivers also struggled with radio issues. The radio often freezes and is unresponsive when using the buttons. It also seems to have a mind of its own and is prone to randomly switching between Sirius XM and AM radio. Replacing the unit is not covered by the warranty, adding to the costs of this luxury SUV.

Other electrical issues involve all of the gauges suddenly failing to work, the navigation system freezing or being unable to display directions correctly, the Bluetooth becoming unresponsive, and the horn randomly blaring.

On top of these issues, the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee has had 15 recalls so far. The recalls are for an improperly installed alternator, a defective brake shield, loss of power brake assist, the cabin lights being prone to catching fire, and more. This is why CarComplaints suggests avoiding the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee like the plague.
