Unfortunately, LLVs are rear-wheel drive. That means they are not ideal for handling things like snow and other tough conditions. Because of that, it makes sense that brands like Jeep are still selling right-hand drive vehicles in order to handle rural mail delivery. That said, some folks have outfitted their LLVs to handle roles outside of mail delivery, including drag strip racing. 

In recent years, someone actually performed an LS-swap on an old mail truck. And that gave it over 500 horsepower, which is some serious performance. But, if you are interested in converting a Grumman LLV into a camper van, there is plenty of space inside to do so.

The LLV is by no means a luxurious vehicle, and in some cases, it faced reliability issues. But, as the Oshkosh NGDV starts to replace this aging mail truck, maybe it is worth it to consider buying one for your next automotive project. Especially if you are a fan of the United States Postal Service.
