Many people avoid buying new and search for used vehicles instead, to save quite a bit of money. If you’re looking to buy one for under $20,000, there’s plenty to pick from. Don’t limit your choices too much, because you might be surprised at what you could find for that price, like a 2008 Chevrolet Corvette for example.

U.S. News created a list of best used vehicles you can get, that fall in the luxury category, for under $20,000. The 2008 Chevy Corvette is one of them. Let’s look at what they had to say about this vehicle and why it’s even possible to get one for an affordable price.

Can you really get the Chevrolet Corvette for less than $20,000?

When you think about it, new cars sell for an average of $37,000 and up. When you search on the used market, though, those prices can go for significantly less than their brand-new price. Luxury vehicles, especially, lose value quite rapidly when you drive a new one off the dealership lot.

The 2008 Chevrolet Corvette doesn’t disappoint its owners. While it’s often thought of as a sports car, it still offers some above-average features, like power. These Corvettes had a choice of a 6.2-liter V8 engine, which is standard on the base model, or a 7.0-liter V8 motor that produces a whopping 505 hp.

It seems unfathomable to think that you could get something so powerful for less than $20,000. But with this car, it’s more than possible. Average prices for a used 2008 Chevy Corvette can run you approximately $15,000 to $19,500.

What the Chevy Corvette gets right

One of the most interesting aspects of the Corvette is what you can get for a base model of this 2008 Chevy. U.S. News explains that the V8 motor under the hood offers 430 hp. Yes, the entry-level version has more power than most vehicles on the market, and you could get it for under $20,000. Plus, it’s known to compete with the likes of exotic vehicles from places like Germany.

The 2008 model offers more than enough cargo space and interior legroom for your needs. Trunk space on the Corvette gives you 22.4 cubic feet of room for storage, which is pretty impressive for a sports car like this.

Because it’s a sports car, the Corvette drives like a dream. It handles the road with ease, and it’s just plain fun to drive. It also has comfortable seating, so you can easily sit back and enjoy the ride and for less money too.

Where the Chevrolet Corvette doesn’t quite match up

The biggest weakness this Chevy vehicle has its interior. There’s not as much luxuriousness as other high-quality vehicles have. The Chevrolet Corvette has simple, average controls and features. While they’re easy to use and uncomplicated to figure out, it just doesn’t match its rivals in quality.

Cargo space offers plenty of room for just about anything. Cabin storage, on the other hand, doesn’t. You won’t find nice little cubby holders for places to hold your personal items. Expect limited interior storage if you choose to buy a 2008 Chevy Corvette.

Because this is a sports car, it will only seat two people. While that’s not necessarily a bad thing, you can rule it out if you’re looking for something for a family.

While the stylish, brand-new Chevy Corvette C8 is expensive, a used model from 2008 is just as luxurious and classy-looking, and it will save you tons of money too. If you just want a stylish two-seater, the Corvette will fulfill your needs and save you some money as well.
