This was issued on January 31, 2021. The recall involved 2020 and 2021 Ram 1500 Classic SLT trucks. Some trucks did not have a retainer clip installed to secure the master cylinder push rod to the brake pedal. Trucks involved could see a separation of the brake pedal from the pushrod that engages the master cylinder without the clip. If separation occurs, the driver will lose all braking capabilities. Drivers were warned not to drive their Ram trucks before there is an inspection and installation of the clip.

Rearview Camera Malfunction June 2021

The next recall wasn’t until June 9, 2021. It affected 2021 Ram 1500 trucks with a rearview camera for the trailer reverse steering option. Because some cameras malfunctioned, there was no camera image on the screen. Dealers were instructed to update the trailer reverse steering module software. Notifications to owners went out on June 24, 2021.

In certain 2021 Ram 1500 trucks, an incorrect size spare tire was installed. They did not match either the tire size or inflation pressure information specified on the tire placard. This violates the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 110 “Tire Selection and Rims” section. Dealers were instructed to replace the spare at no charge.

A second NHTSA recall was issued for the rearview camera not displaying on screens on November 22, 2021. It involved the Trailer Reverse Steering Control Module on 2021 Ram 1500 pickup trucks. The issue had no remedy at the time of the recall, but Ram stated it was “currently under development.” Owners will be notified in mid-January 2022. If owners have any questions about this second recall the reference number is Y80.

Notices won’t go out to owners until January 13, 2022. If you have concerns about your truck being part of the recall and/or have questions, the reference number is Y99.
