SUVs have become the fastest-growing segment in the auto industry. Perfect for families, they provide lots of legroom for growing children and plenty of cargo space for hauling everyday loads. Three-row SUVs have become particularly popular in the last few years, and the all-new 2020 Audi SQ7 hits the mark when it comes to performance, quality, and dependability.

The soccer mom minivans of the past are no more. Luxury filled SUVs are showing up in school pickup lines in record numbers. Audi is stepping up the game with the all-new SQ7. The midsize SUV is downright fun to drive with superior driving dynamics and unsurpassed performance.

It provides all the amenities busy families need while also having the ability to go from 0 to 60 mph in 4 seconds flat. With a 500-hp V8 engine, parents are happy to strap junior safely into his car seat as they hit the open road in a high-performance vehicle.

The Audi SQ7 is perfect for families

All the major players in the car manufacturing business are getting in on the booming three-row SUV market. Lincoln, Volvo, and BMW offer vehicles that push the 400-hp threshold and are a favorite among busy working families. Sharing the MLB platform with the Porsche Cayenne and Bentley Bentayga, the Audi SQ7 promises to be a worthy competitor in this growing segment.

The elegant-looking SUV handles corners well and offers precision handling that allows for an impeccable driving experience. Powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, the Audi SQ7 puts out 500 hp and 568 lb-ft of torque. Paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, the all-wheel-drive system provides powerful performance. An all-wheel steering function provides high-speed stability and allows the rear wheels to turn up to five degrees to tighten the turning radius.

Unlike other SUVs, the SQ7 is easy to drive and even easier to park. It offers plenty of visibility and allows parents to feel like they are driving a quality car without sacrificing the space needed for a growing family.

Family-friendly features in the 2020 Audi SQ7

The Audi SQ7 can fit up to seven passengers comfortably with an air spring on the second-row seating that makes getting in and out of the back a breeze. The seats easily adjust, and the back seats fold into a 50/50 configuration to create an enormous cargo carrying area.

There is a dual-screen infotainment system that provides simple control of the heating and air conditioning systems as well as the multimedia functions. The extravagant graphics have perfect resolution, making an enjoyable experience for wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto users. Google Maps is also an added extra to help the driver with navigation.

A unique new feature offered by Audi is an alert on the display screen that will estimate the length of wait time at a red light. Accessible with over 15,000 intersections throughout the country, busy parents will find this to be a valuable add-on. An integrated toll module is another handy feature that pays tolls automatically when linked to a credit card. It also works in numerous airport parking lots.

The luxury features included in the Audi SQ7 makes it a great SUV for parents and children alike. Cars.com referred to the SQ7 as a “split-personality” SUV that can “haul the family and still pull a good-sized boat.”

Is it worth the price?

The 2020 Audi SQ7 Premium Plus comes with a starting price tag of $85,795, with the 2021 model reportedly costing an extra $200. The Prestige trim has an MSRP of $91,395, which includes side window acoustic glass to reduce road noise, ventilated seats, and a driver-assist package. The 2021 Prestige will have a starting price of $92,195.

After evaluating the midsize SUV, MotorTrend said, “With the 2020 Audi SQ7, Ingolstadt is out to entertain American parents. Not only can they drive the kids to school in style and comfort, but now they can also add a dose of fun and performance.”
