The Worst Jeep Cherokee Feature Isn’t A Deal Breaker

One of the worst features of the 2020 Jeep Cherokee includes a lack of cargo space compared to rivals, but this isn’t a deal-breaker. The Jeep Cherokee has tons of positive features to make it worth buying, and there are a few storage hacks to increase cargo space.

Is the 2020 Jeep Cherokee a good SUV?

The 2020 Jeep Cherokee is a great Jeep. Edmunds only had two cons to list, including having less cargo space than rivals and having a sluggish acceleration with the 2.4-liter engine. There are 25.8 cubic feet of cargo space in the trunk area, and when you fold the seats flat, you can access up to 54.7 cubic feet of cargo space.

The Hyundai Santa Fe has 35.9 cubic feet of cargo space in the trunk area, with up to 71.3 cubic feet total. That’s quite a bit more than the Jeep Cherokee, but you can always load up your gear on the roof or load your trailer up because it can tow up to 4,500 lb.

For organization, the 2020 Jeep Cherokee comes with a variety of cargo container options for storing your gear. Also, Edmunds noted that the Jeep Cherokee has tons of space for front row and second-row passengers. So the lack of cargo space for more legroom could be a fair trade of.

2020 Jeep Cherokee performance

The 2020 Jeep Cherokee starts around $25k and has a fair fuel economy. It gets up to 23 mpg in the city and up to 31 mpg on the highway. This is a nice fuel economy for a midsize SUV, and there are three engine options to choose from.

The 2.4-liter four-cylinder base engine provides 180 horsepower and 171 lb-ft of torque. You can also upgrade to the 3.2-liter V6 engine with 270 horsepower and 235 lb-ft of torque. And last but not least, the big daddy engine is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine for 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque.

You can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 7.6 seconds in the Jeep Cherokee, which is fair compared to rivals like the Toyota RAV4. Edmunds also praised the Jeep Cherokee for having a sporty and smooth drive with excellent off-roading capabilities too.

For off-roading, the 2020 Jeep Cherokee has an automatic 4×4 system that adjusts torque and traction to prevent slipping. It also has an electronically locking rear differential and off-roading driving modes for rock, sand, and snow. It can go water fording, crawl over rocks, and more.

2020 Jeep Cherokee features

The 2020 Jeep Cherokee offers a luxurious interior that’s also smart. The infotainment center can connect to Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Alexis. You can tell your smart speaker to start your Jeep, monitor its health on your smartphone, and even unlock the doors with your smartwatch.
