Reliable, fuel-efficient, and practical, the Toyota Corolla has long been a favored compact car. It’s also an affordable, dependable daily driver. Despite its popularity, the Corolla is the best-selling car in only one state. Let’s take a look at Toyota Corolla and other popular models.

Edmunds released a list of the best-selling cars in America after collecting data throughout 2022. The roundup includes a diverse range of models from various segments, such as sedans, SUVs, and trucks.

The rankings are based on various factors, including consumer preferences, market trends, and car sales data. Edmunds analyzes these factors and offers insights into the top-selling vehicles in America. The list helps consumers make informed decisions before purchasing a new car. It also provides a glimpse into the models that have gained a strong following.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Chevy Silverado and Ford F-Series are consumer favorites. The Silverado is the top-selling vehicle in 15 states, and the F-Series is the most popular in 14. The Toyota RAV4 is the top-selling in 12 states and Washington, D.C.

Top picks in other states are the Ram truck series, Honda CR-V, GMC Sierra, Toyota Tacoma, Tesla Model Y, and Toyota Corolla.

And although the Toyota Camry surprisingly is not the best-selling vehicle in any state, it’s “the only car that ranks in the top 10 most sold vehicles of 2022,” Edmunds reports.

Which state loves the Toyota Corolla most?

The Corolla is among the best-selling cars of all time. However, it enjoys particular popularity in Florida. With its reliable performance, fuel economy, and affordable sticker price, this compact car has found a strong customer base in the Sunshine State.

Aside from the Corolla’s success in Florida, Toyota has achieved top-selling status with other models in other states. The RAV4 compact crossover maintains its position as a best-seller in numerous states, particularly along the East Coast. It’s the most popular car in Washington, Oregon, Illinois, Virginia, North Carolina, Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New York, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and the District of Columbia.

And the Toyota Tacoma is the most popular model in Hawaii, where the midsize truck’s ruggedness and off-road capabilities come in handy.

With its substantial presence in those specific regions, Toyota demonstrates an ability to meet the demands of diverse markets, solidifying its standing as a leading automotive brand in the U.S.

Is the 2023 Toyota Corolla a good car?

Sales data since 2005 shows the Toyota Corolla has consistently ranked among the best-selling compact cars. And the 12th generation continues this model’s domination.

The 2023 Toyota Corolla offers a combination of affordability, efficiency, and safety. It doesn’t boast the athletic performance of rivals like the Honda Civic and Mazda3, but the Corolla has something for everyone.

For instance, it comes in hatchback and sedan body styles. It also offers a choice of front- or all-wheel drive and a highly fuel-efficient hybrid getting an EPA-estimated 50 mpg combined. Even the gas-powered model gets 35 mpg combined. All models come standard with the Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 suite of advanced driver-assistance technology. In addition, the interior is spacious for a small car.

And it starts at only $21,700.
