Mazda’s CX-5 tops the Consumer Reports’Reports’ list of most reliable, compact SUVs for 2020. The CX-5 is the only model in the class with equally outstanding predicted reliability and owner satisfaction ratings because it’s fun to drive and remarkably comfortable to ride in. The CX-5 is stylish inside and out, and its car cabin can even rival true luxury models. 

You have three engines to choose from on the CX-5. Most drivers will be happy with the standard CX-5, which comes with a 187-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder and a smooth six-speed automatic transmission. The most energetic option though, is the turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder that makes 227-hp. There’s also an available 168-horsepower 2.2-liter turbocharged diesel engine.

2020 Subaru Forester

The Forester is ideal for those in search of a comfortable everyday-ride that’s also adventure-ready. This Subaru stands out in its class for its fuel economy and standard all-wheel-drive. The Forester won’t wow you with its acceleration, but its 182-hp 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine performs well overall.

On the inside, the Forester impresses with its luxury-focused interior. It provides excellent visibility and plenty of space to seat five. Plus, the Forester comes with an easy-to-use infotainment system complete with a 6.5-inch touchscreen, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. The Equinox isn’t the most impressive performer on this list. Its base engine is pretty weak. For a livelier experience, you’ll want to consider upgrading to the 252-hp 2.0-liter turbo-four.
