Unfortunately for the 2021 Ford Explorer, it’s also one of the least reliable Ford SUVs. According to Consumer Reports, this year’s new model earned a dismal one out of five predicted reliability rating. This isn’t the first time the Ford Explorer has been given such a low-reliability rating either. Consumer Reports also gave the 2020 Ford Explorer a one out of five predicted reliability rating.
The 2021 Ford Explorer has plenty of issues to contend with too. According to Consumer Reports, previous model years have experienced some minor engine issues. Owners of the Ford Explorer have also experienced problems with the SUV’s transmission and drive system. Other problems have included issues with the SUV’s paint, power equipment, and in-car electronics.
