Consumer Reports says the 2021 Ford EcoSport is unreliable

If you’re shopping for an affordable subcompact SUV, the 2021 Ford EcoSport might seem like a good option. At least at first glance, anyway. It’s stylish, fuel-efficient, and boasts a base price of $19,995. And what’s not to like about that? But if you’re in the market for a reliable subcompact SUV, you should probably steer clear of this year’s new Ford EcoSport.

Because unfortunately, according to Consumer Reports, the 2021 Ford EcoSport earned itself a two out of five predicted reliability rating, which makes this year’s model one of the least reliable Ford SUVs available. Making matters even worse is the Ford EcoSport’s one out of five predicted owner satisfaction rating. Pretty disappointing, right?

The 2021 Ford Escape is one of the least reliable Ford SUVs

Now, the Ford Escape is a staple among Ford’s SUV lineup. The problem is that this year’s model hasn’t earned the most impressive ratings from Consumer Reports. Not only did the 2021 Ford Escape struggle to impress during Consumer Reports’ road tests, but Consumer Reports also gave it a one out of five predicted reliability rating, which is nothing to write home about.

So what’s the hangup with this year’s model? Well, according to Consumer Reports, this year’s Ford Escape disappoints in a few key areas. Not only have owners reported minor transmission issues with past model years, but owners have also reported experiencing problems with the Escape’s body integrity, power equipment, and in-car electronics.

Avoid the 2021 Ford Explorer if you’re a stickler for reliability

Unfortunately for the 2021 Ford Explorer, it’s also one of the least reliable Ford SUVs. According to Consumer Reports, this year’s new model earned a dismal one out of five predicted reliability rating. This isn’t the first time the Ford Explorer has been given such a low-reliability rating either. Consumer Reports also gave the 2020 Ford Explorer a one out of five predicted reliability rating.

The 2021 Ford Explorer has plenty of issues to contend with too. According to Consumer Reports, previous model years have experienced some minor engine issues. Owners of the Ford Explorer have also experienced problems with the SUV’s transmission and drive system. Other problems have included issues with the SUV’s paint, power equipment, and in-car electronics.
