We are getting closer and closer to seeing the new Jeep Wrangler 4xe make its debut. The new plug-in hybrid Jeep Wrangler 4xe will provide a new take on a Wrangler that we’ve never seen before. Plus, it might arrive sooner than you think.

Update for the 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4xe

Jeep has been providing tons of Instagram teasers about the new Jeep models that are expected to make their debut on September 3rd. While most clues point toward the revival of the Grand Jeep Wagoneer, a recent video released to Twitter teases the Jeep Wrangler PHEV. Rumors also suggest that the 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4xe will be available in December.

The video shows a four-door Jeep Wrangler that operates in almost pure silence while the sounds of nature explode. You hear chirping, tweeting, and more as the Jeep Wrangler goes down a trail for 15 seconds.

Apparently, it’s quiet to allow drivers to truly connect with nature. This positive environment angle is different from rivals as they promote muscle and speed with off-roading trucks like the Ram 1500 TRX and Ford Raptor. We have to admit that the sound of a roaring engine is pretty exciting, but so is relaxing during a day spent in great outdoors.

What we know about the Jeep Wrangler 4xe

The plug-in hybrid Jeep Wrangler 4xe is mostly being kept under wraps for now, but we may learn more on September 3rd or December. However, because the Jeep Wrangle PHEV was on display and the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), we have a few clues as to what to expect.

A lithium-ion battery pack will power the electric motor, and the gas-electric powertrain could be similar to the one found in the Chrysler Pacifica. This means that the transmission could be built around the 3.6-liter V6 engine even though Jeep uses a 1.3-liter turbo four-cylinder turbo in other hybrid models.

As you can see in the video, the Jeep Wrangler 4xe looks exactly like the non-hybrid Jeep Wrangler. Only it has blue accents to show off its hybrid power, and there is a plug beside the front A-pillar for charging.

Electrified Jeep components could be placed between the exhaust and driveshaft area to protect them. There is no word on if a skid plate will also protect the off-roading components, but Jeep suggests the hybrid model won’t be off-roading compromised. It still wears the Trail Rated badge.

What else can we expect from Jeep?

Jeep has promised to create hybrid options for each model by 2022, and photos of the Jeep Renegade 4xe have started to emerge. Also, along with the Grand Jeep Wagoneer, we could see a Grand Wagoneer model too. All we know is that a three-row Wagoneer SUV is coming.

Some rumors suggest that a three-row Jeep Cherokee could debut too. But to go after the Ford Bronco, Jeep is striking back with the first V8 Jeep Wrangler in history. After 34 years, the Jeep Wrangler continues to be new and exciting.
