Are you ready to hit the beach and enjoy that tropical island feeling? You can do so in the 2021 Jeep Renegade Islander Edition. This special edition has been added along with the Jeep Wrangler Islander Edition. Both Jeep models feature beachy themes, colors, and capabilities, but they also have steep price tags.

Is the 2021 Jeep Renegade Islander worth buying?

According to Motor Trend, the 2021 Jeep Renegade Islander Edition begins at around $28,925. This is about $2,5959 over the 2021 Renegade Latitude trim. However, the base model Jeep Renegade begins at about $22,850.

So is the $6,000 upgrade for beach-ready features worth it? The Islander does come with the Tigershark 2.4-liter engine with 180 hp and 175 lb-ft of torque. Tigershark is a fitting name for a beach Jeep too.

This is an upgrade from the 1.3-liter four-cylinder base engine with 177-hp and 210 lb-ft of torque. Despite having less torque. The Tigershark engine provides a peppier acceleration for a sportier drive.

However, the Jeep Renegade Islander comes with standard front-wheel drive. This is pretty disappointing because the cost is already pretty steep. In areas where you can drive on the beach, you will want 4×4.

Jeep Renegade Islander looks

The main upgrades are in appearance. The Islander Renegade comes with a Tiki Bob hood decal, clothe seats with spacial Islander logos and Surf Blue accent stitching, and an available Apline-White painted roof.

You also get the dual-pane panoramic glass roof to let the island breeze and sunlight in and 19-inch alloy wheels. Exterior colors include Bikini, Jetset Bluem Glacier, and Omaha Orange. Plus, you get Uconnect 4 with a 7-inch  touchscreen.

What comes with the 2021 Jeep Wrangler Islander?

The 2021 Wrangler Islander Special Edition begins at around $34,865 for the two-door model and $38,364 for the four-door. They are based on the Wrangler Sport S trim. The base models start at about $28,475 and $31,975.

They are available with multiple transmission options, and the package comes with 17-inch Rubicon aluminum wheels with all-terrain tires, Rubicon rock rails, Uconnect 4 with a 7-inch touchscreen, and standard Command-Trac 4WD.

The 2021 Jeep Wrangler Islander also comes with the Tiki Bob hood decal, seat logos with Surf Blue stitching, and a Ceramic White mid-bolster on the seats. An available white three-piece hardtop can be added for $2,395.

The exterior colors include Billet Silver, Black, Chief, Granite Crystal, Bright White, Firecracker Red, Hellayella, Sarge Green, Snazzberry, and Sting-Gray. The optional Ilanader Plus package includes grab handles, a cargo liner, a solid sunbonnet top, and a spare tire cover with Tiki Bob on it for $670.

So, the Wrangler gets quite a bit more than the Jeep Renegade Islander Edition. Along with more custom options, you even get 4×4 to drive over island terrain. But please only do so in areas that are allowed.

Going for the Renegade Islander only seems worth it if you really like the way it looks and adds 4×4 to enhance its capabilities. But it does serve as a cheaper way to get an Islander Jeep. This package is back after being discontinued nearly a decade ago, so there is a nostalgia factor.
