Last year, there were a few success stories in the world of cars, trucks, and SUVs. One list put together the best-selling vehicles of 2020. The top-selling rides range from pickups to sedans and everything in between. This ranking is by the book and the numbers, though, citing units sold. The Jeep Grand Cherokee not only managed to land on this best-selling list. It’s the No. 1 Jeep in terms of overall sales as well.

The list ranking last year’s best sales

Car and Driver tallied up the data provided by the automakers as they look back at 2020. Most manufacturers saw declines in sales early on in the year. But several made comebacks, in part due to the popularity of specific vehicles. The Car and Driver team sorted the analytics and compiled this list they call the 25 Best-Selling Cars, Trucks, and SUVs of 2020.

How the Jeep Grand Cherokee faired in 2020 sales

According to this Car and Driver year-end list, the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee landed 15th out of the 25 best-selling vehicles. By year’s end, Jeep sold 209,786 units, making the Grand Cherokee the best-selling Jeep in the portfolio. Sales were down, and so were the sales of many other automakers from 2019. In Jeep’s case, 2020 saw a 14 percent decline, most of which is attributed to the pandemic conditions sustained during the first and second quarters.

A couple of other Jeep models on this list

Jeep is represented well on this year-end list, with a few other models beyond the Jeep Grand Cherokee earning ranks. The Jeep Cherokee landed in 23rd place, with 135,855 units officially sold in 2020. And of course, the Jeep Wrangler remained popular among consumers and came in 15th on this data-driven list. Despite its 12 percent decrease from 2019, the 2020 Jeep Wrangler still sold 201,311 total units.

The 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee’s best attributes

The economy may have been unstable, and consumers may have been hesitant to make significant purchases in 2020, but the Jeep Grand Cherokee managed to stay strong. This SUV is great at staying fresh despite its 10-year run. And with a healthy mix of features, including the latest in driver assistance tech and an easy-to-use infotainment platform, its popularity showed in the sales numbers.

According to Jeep, the 2020 Grand Cherokee offers more than 70 standard and available safety and security extras. And the available ProTech I and II Packages can be a game-changer for some, with suites of even more intuitive driver aids.

Consumers enjoy the Jeep Grand Cherokee’s knack for combining high-quality luxury and rugged capability. The large SUV offers upscale materials and softer touchpoints throughout while simultaneously offering off-road capability and impressive towing ratings for this segment. Decide if you need 2WD or 4WD with this Jeep to venture where you need to go.

You’ll enjoy a choice of engines from the standard V6 to one of the three V8s. Whether you need 360 hp or the 707-hp high-end engine, you’ll find what fits your driving preferences. And you’ll enjoy the leather comforts and high-tech conveniences too.

Last year may not have boasted the best sales numbers or model units sold for automakers, but Jeep still managed to hold its own in the large SUV segment. And despite the increasing competition in the crossover markets, Jeep proves it can still be relevant and is always welcomed by families and enthusiasts. The numbers don’t lie and seem to demonstrate just how popular the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Jeep Wrangler, and Jeep Cherokee models really are.
