Please take a minute to catch your breath. We know you’re still excited about the new Ford Bronco that was finally revealed. But now Ford could be coming out with an even cooler option, the Ford Maverick. You need to check this out before going all-in on the 2021 Ford Bronco.
The Ford Maverick is coming
While the Ford Maverick used to be a muscle car, now a leaked photo has confirmed that it’s making its return as a pickup truck, and hopefully, it will still have plenty of muscle. It will be a new compact pickup truck, so don’t get your hopes up for a Ford Bronco pickup truck just yet.
Information about the new Ford Maverick remains limited at this time, but a photo of a tailgate with “MAVERICK” stamped on it was leaked. Also, the tailgate has a cutout where the round Ford logo should be.
What we know about the Ford Maverick
Whispers of a unibody truck have not been confirmed or denied by Ford since 2018. But Ford did confirm their plans to introduce a variety of new vehicles to the United States. Also, many are pleased so far with the introduction of the 2021 Ford Bronco.
The truck could sit on the Ford Fiesta platform, which is worrisome, but don’t dismiss it yet. The Ford Bronco Sport currently sits on the Ford Escape platform and is still a rugged and capable option.

Plus, the Honda Ridgeline has a unibody design and still proves itself off-roading. It may not be climbing up rock faces, but it can still handle mud and snow. Before you hate on all-wheel-drive, remember that the Ford Bronco Sport is AWD too.
It’s attempting to prove that you don’t need four-wheel-drive to be Ford tough. Possible engines for the 2022 Ford Maverick include small displacement options such as the 1.5-liter inline-three engine and the 2.5-liter inline-four option with a hybrid gear.
Also, who can even afford new trucks these days? That’s why it’s time to get excited for the Ford Maverick, which could serve as an entry-level truck. It may be priced under $20k and sit beside whatever replaces the Ford EcoSport.
This proves that the new Maverick crossover will be separate from the Ford Bronco lineup because there is no way that anything with the Bronco nameplate would be released for that cheap.
When will we learn more about the Ford Maverick?
However, what if the Ford Maverick doesn’t have a unibody frame? What if it’s the compact Ford Ranger we’ve been waiting for? Either way, a new crossover is coming. Ford will reveal this tiny creation in 2021.
The tiny Ford Ranger, Toyota Hilux, Dodge Dakota, and Jeep Comanche are tiny trucks that we miss. Meanwhile, Ford has been manufacturing a secret vehicle in Michigan, that’s referred to as the ‘White Space.’
After Chevy messed up with turning the Chevy Blazer into a street SUV instead of reviving it as an off-roader, maybe Ford realized that people miss the classics. Now they could be jumping on to fill a white space in the market where compact trucks are currently missing.
