Have you seen the Kia Telluride? It’s a pretty attractive three-row SUV, like the Ford Expedition. The Kia Telluride and Ford Expedition have a lot in common. Only you don’t have to spend an arm and a leg to drive off the lot with a brand new Kia Telluride. Check out how you can save thousands with an excellent family SUV.

The Kia Telluride Feels Like the Ford Expedition

The Kia Telluride has a similar look to the Ford Expedition. They are both long and boxy SUVs, and it seems like Kia borrowed the Expedition’s narrow grille design with rectangular headlights. The rear of both SUVs looks similar with the shape of the bumper, liftgate, /and taillights.

Also, the Kia Telluride is a little better on gas. It gets up to 20 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. The Ford Expedition only gets 17 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway. That could provide beneficial savings at the fuel pump.

Kia Telluride and Ford Expedition power

The Ford Expedition comes with a 3.5-liter V6 engine that pumps out 375 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque. If you upgrade to the Ford Expedition Platinum trim, then the same engine will provide 400 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque.

When properly equipped, the Ford Expedition can tow up to 9,300 lb. Also, the Ford Expedition can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 6.2 seconds. That is super fast for a three-row SUV, and it doesn’t even need a V8 for that amount of speed and power.

The Kia Telluride comes with a 3.8-liter V6 engine that provides 291 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. It can tow up to 5,000 lb, which isn’t too far behind the Expedition. Plus, the Kia Telluride can accelerate from 0 to 60 in 7.2 seconds, which is still very fast for a large SUV.

However, the Ford Expedition is offered with 4×4 capability, while the Kia Telluride only offers all-wheel-drive. So, if you plan to drive through deep snow, sand, and more, you’ll need four-by-four. But if you will only be driving in small amounts of snow and down dirt roads to trailheads, the Kia Telluride will be fine.

Kia Telluride and Ford Expedition features

The Ford Expedition has 20.9 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row of seats and up to 106.4 cubic feet total. The Kia Telluride is a little smaller with 21 cubic feet of cargo space and up to 87 cubic feet total.

Both of these SUVs have large, comfortable interiors. The Kia Telluride, driver’s seat, feels like a cockpit and has a heads up display and 10.25″ infotainment center and head’s up display. The Ford Expedition doesn’t have a heads up display.

Both SUVs are also incredibly safe with rear-cross traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assistance, and more. The only reason to go with the Ford Expedition would be for if you want to go off-roading, need a little more legroom, and if you’re going to tow something over 5,000 lb. Otherwise, the Kia Telluride is a money-saving smart, safe, fast, comfortable, capable SUV.
