The Ford Edge is a midsize SUV that is built to compete with rivals such as the Hyundai Santa Fe and Toyota RAV4, but it might be overpriced. Let’s check out what the Ford Edge has to offer to see if it’s worth going for.

Is The Ford Edge Over Priced?

The Ford Edge base model starts around $31k, making it one of the pricier options to consider. The Hyundai Santa Fe starts around $26k while the Toyota RAV4 starts around $25k, so what does the Ford Edge have to make it worth spending thousands more on?

For one thing, it doesn’t include a better fuel economy. It only gets 21 mpg in the city and up to 29 mpg on the highway. Meanwhile, the RAV4 gets 26 mpg in the city and up to 35 mpg on the highway.

Ford Edge Performance

The Ford Edge has two engine options. The base model comes with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that offers 250 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. You can also upgrade to the 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 engine for 335 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque.

However, despite these powerful engines, the Ford Edge can only tow between 1,500 to 3,500 lb. For an SUV that starts over $30k, we would expect it to tow at least 5,000 lb, like the Jeep Cherokee.

But you can’t complain about it’s pick up with the ability to go from 0 to 60 mph in only 6.1 seconds. Plus, the Ford Edge has trailer sway control to help you control your trailer automatically.

We recommend adding all-wheel drive to your build, so your Ford Edge can handle snow and slippery conditions. The AWD system is intelligent and uses sensors to monitor traction to adjust to changing conditions automatically.

The Ford Edge has a racing design to provide a sporty experience that you can feel. You can benefit from the thrills of changing gears and zooming around without taking your hands off the steering wheel. With its smooth suspension, stability control, hill start assist, torque-vectoring control, and more should provide a comfortable and entertaining ride.

Ford Edge Features

The Ford Edge is receiving complaints about having uncomfortable seats and an older, outdated dash. The infotainment center can connect to Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and navigation.

It also can connect to Alexis, and the FordPass app allows you to connect your smartphone to your car to start it, lock the doors, and more remotely. The Wi-fi hotspot enables you to remain connected up to 50 feet away from your vehicle too. Best of all, this tech comes standard!

The Ford Edge has ample cargo space with up to 39.2 cubic feet of cargo space in the rear. There are 73.3 cubic feet of cargo space total. The quick-release seat button and auto liftgate make loading up cargo easier.

Plus, the Ford Edge comes with a lot of standard safety features. Automatic emergency braking, cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assistance, and auto beam headlamps are all included in the base model. So yes, the Ford Edge is worth the price. It’s a capable SUV that’s fun to drive with advanced tech and safety features.
