How much bigger is the Grand Highlander than the Highlander?

The Grand Highlander is a larger version of the Highlander. This new model is 6.5 inches longer, 2.3 inches wider, and two inches taller. It also has four extra inches of wheelbase. That brings the total to nearly 116 inches more than the regular Highlander.

Those dimensions slot the Grand Highlander between the full-size Sequoia and the midsize Highlander in the Toyota SUV lineup.

3 powertrains add to the benefits of this new Toyota midsize SUV

The Grand Highlander is larger than most midsize SUVs but boasts better EPA-estimated fuel economy. This new Toyota SUV offers various performance and efficiency options via three powertrains.

The base powertrain is the one in the regular Highlander — a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine attached to an eight-speed automatic transmission. This setup delivers 265 hp and can be had with front-wheel or all-wheel drive.

The base Grand Highlander Hybrid also borrows the regular Highlander Hybrid powertrain. Its 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and two electric motors deliver 243 hp.

And the top powertrain is the new Hybrid Max. Its 2.4-liter turbo-four engine and electric motor harness 362 hp. They also allow the new Toyota SUV to reach 60 mph in 6.3 seconds and tow 5,000 pounds.
