The Ram 1500 is one of the best full-size pickup trucks on the market. Not only is it flying out of dealerships, but it also garnered MotorTrend’s Truck of the Year award for the past three years. And now, to top off those accolades, the Ram 1500 recently snagged another honor.

MotorTrend just ranked it number one on its list “The Best Full-Size Pickup Trucks to Buy in 2021.” And with all of the Ram 1500’s features, it’s not hard to see why.

The 2021 Ram 1500’s performance and power

The latest Ram 1500 is a supercharged truck. It boasts a TRX model that features an impressive 6.2-liter V8 engine. This juggernaut can roar from 0 to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds produce more than 700 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque. The base model comes with a standard yet remarkable 3.6-liter V-6 with a 48-volt hybrid system. A 5.7-liter V8 model is also available.

None of these models offers excellent fuel economy, even for a truck. But that’s one of this truck’s few complaints. All models handle well on- or off-road, especially considering you’re driving a nearly four-ton vehicle. And each comes standard with rear-wheel drive, but four-wheel drive is available as an option. But you’ll want the TRX version for the most fun on the road.

The Ram 1500 TRX is also the best option if you’re looking for hauling power. With the RWD quad-cab long-bed configuration, you can tow as much as 12,750 pounds and carry a payload that weighs just under a ton. You’ll have trailer-reversing steering control and an optional snowplow preparation kit. The Ram 1500 also boasts impressive technology and luxurious features.

The Ram 1500’s luxury and technology

Drivers and passengers get a great deal of head, elbow, and legroom in the Ram 1500’s relatively spacious cabin. And depending on the trim, you get comfortable vinyl-upholstered seats (standard with the base model) or brown or red leather (standard with more expensive trims). With the Ram TRX, you’ll be treated to heated and ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, and a suede-wrapped steering wheel.

You’ll also get an infotainment system boasting a 12-inch screen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and built-in navigation. The TRX comes with an upscale six-speaker audio system, though you can purchase a 10- or nine-speaker option. And TRX drivers will enjoy a head-up digital display and digital rearview mirror.

Most Ram 1500 trims come with advanced safety features standard. They include forward-collision warning and automatic emergency braking. But with the TRX also boasts adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-keep assist.

Other trims and options

Though the TRX is superb, this award-winning truck comes in other attractive trims. They have fewer standard features, but the Ram 1500 offers many options, allowing you to build the truck you desire. Want massive all-terrain tires? Opt for the Ram 1500 Rebel. Need to haul larger payloads? Choose the 76.8-inch bed rather than the 67.2-inch one. You can also purchase a range of accessories — from mounted LED lights to off-road rock rails — to suit your needs.

The Ram 1500’s base MSRP is an attractive $32,595, but the TRX starts at $69,995. You could customize another trim to get close to the truck you want. But the TRX model continues to garner high praise from MotorTrend, among others. And with its power, performance, and features, it’s no wonder why.
