Is the 2021 Hyundai Palisade a good SUV?

Yes, the 2021 Hyundai Palisade is an excellent SUV. According to AutoBlog, there’s not much bad to say about it at all. As the cousin to the Kia Telluride, the 2021 Hyundai Palisade may actually be the better three-row option. But people are drawn to the boxy shape of the Telluride instead.

However, they did find minor drawbacks. The Hyundai Palisade doesn’t come cheap, but that means it isn’t a cheap ride either. You can get started in the 2021 Hyundai Palisade for about $32,525. That feels a bit steep for families. Also, the ride is average instead of sporty, and there are no off-roading modes.

But families will get a lot for its price. Like the Honda Pilot, the Palisade offers an abundance of space, a more upscale interior, has a great warranty, and offers tons of standard driver assistance features.

What’s new for the 2021 Hyundai Palisade?

The big shebang for the 2021 Hyundai Palisade is the addition of the Calligraphy trim, which adds another level of luxury. It has exclusive wheel and grille designs, leather-trimmed door inserts, a microfiber suede headliner, a massive touchscreen, and more.

An 8-inch touchscreen comes standard on each trim, but it can be upgraded to a 10.25-inch unit. Standard features include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, 5 USB ports, and satellite radio.

You can mute the rear speakers to let your kids sleep or for those with different music tastes. Plus, there is a Driver Talk in-car intercom so you can reach those in the 3rd row.

The 2021 Hyundai Palisade excels in passenger space. It’s among class leaders in its segment in terms of head and legroom in the third row. Adults fit back there just fine.

Also, a one-press button automatically slides the seats forward for access. There are 18 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row, with up to 86.4 cubic feet total. The center console and other storage areas are large and conveniently tucked out of the way.

How is driving the 2021 Hyundai Palisade?

The 2021 Hyundai Palisade comes with a 3.8-liter V6 engine with 291 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque. It can tow up to 5,000 lb and accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 6.9 seconds. It’s also available in AWD if you need to tackle some snow.

It has an EPA estimated fuel economy of 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway, and AWD will reduce those numbers slightly. The handling is precise, and the smooth suspension controls body roll. The 2021 Hyundai Palisade is comfortable as a daily driver and capable as an adventurer with 7.9-inches of ground clearance.

Plus, the 2020 Hyundai Palisade is a top safety pick from the IIHS. Standard safety features include forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot warning, rear-cross traffic alert, lane-keeping assistance, a distracted driver warning, safe exit assist, and adaptive cruise control.
