According to Auto Blog, the Honda CR-V isn’t a sexy option. But that’s alright, not everyone is looking for a hot rod to show off. There are other important aspects to consider, such as price, space fuel economy, and more.

The Auto Blog team suggests that the Mazda CX-5 is better to look at, but that’s a little subject. Some may think the CR-V is the more attractive SUV. Also, the Toyota RAV4 and Subaru Forester may offer more rugged capabilities for off-roading, but the CR-V does offer all-wheel drive. 

What’s boring about the 2021 CR-V? 

You can get started in the 2021 Honda CR-V for about $25,350, which isn’t boring, but it is average. A lower price would make it more exciting. For comparison’s sake, the Toyota RAV4 begins around $26,150. 

The CR-V comes with a standard 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that provides 190 hp and 179 lb-ft of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mpg in about 7.5 seconds. This is also average. It isn’t slow, but you won’t be passing people like a race car driver either. 

When properly equipped, the CR-V can tow up to 1,500 lb. This is surprisingly less towing power than expected. Rivals can tow up to 3,000 lb. So, this is something to keep in mind if you’re planning on towing campers or trailers. 

The Honda CR-V Hybrid is equipped with a 2.0-liter inline-four engine and two electric motors that create a combined 212 hp. So, it is a little more powerful. It gets an EPA estimated 35 mpg on the highway and 40 mpg in the city, so that’s exciting! 

When driving the 2021 CR-V, you’ll notice that it has a smooth, comfortable, and quiet ride. It’s an excellent daily driver. However, once you press the accelerator, it can drone a little. It may not be the sportiest option, but it’s nimble and convenient. 

2021 CR-V features 

One of the most enticing features about the 2021 Honda CR-V is its size. The seats are large enough for adults to sit comfortably, and it has the most cargo space in its class.

There are 39.2 cubic feet behind the rear seats and up to 75.8 cubic feet of cargo space total. There is a 40/60 split in the rear seats, and the low cargo floor makes loading items easier.

The interior is plain, but it has a functional layout. The 2021 CR-V has better quality materials that don’t feel as cheap and plasticky as previous models. The 7-inch touchscreen infotainment center is an average size and could be improved. The system is a little laggy and tricky to use. 

According to Edmunds, the CR-V comes with tons of safety features, including lane-keeping assistance, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, forward-collision warning, and automatic emergency braking. They noted that these features are helpful, but you get too many forward collision alerts in dense traffic
