The 2021 Ford F-150 Will Have Dedicated Space to . . . Nap?

Sometimes there’s no choice but to grab a nap in the car, but it’s usually not the most comfortable affair. You wind up with your knees curled up, in somewhat of a wedge shape, hoping you can catch a few z’s if you spend long hours on the job. All this will change in the …

Sometimes there’s no choice but to grab a nap in the car, but it’s usually not the most comfortable affair. You wind up with your knees curled up, in somewhat of a wedge shape, hoping you can catch a few z’s if you spend long hours on the job. All this will change in the 2021 Ford F-150, where the automaker has taken the concept of sleeping in the truck to a whole new level. The new Ford F-150 will be more comfortable than ever before.

The 2021 Ford F-150 makes it easy to lay back

When you need a spot to get some quick, restorative sleep, the Ford F-150 will deliver. According to MotorTrend, the Max Recline seats for the driver and front passenger fold nearly flat for an actual comfortable place to lie down. Whether you’re bedding down for your lunch break in the Ford F-150, or for the night, just fold up the rear seat cushions and fold down the front-seat backrests to about 180 degrees. You can then adjust the seat bottom to line up with the back for an almost flat surface.

Inside, the option of the Max Recline seats won’t be the only upgrade for 2021. The Ford F-150 really can become your home on the road, with enhanced materials and smart features. There’s an available 12-inch touchscreen that connects you to everything in the outside world including contacts, entertainment, and navigation. Over-the-air updates mean your vehicle’s safety features are always up to date, and you know exactly when you need repairs or maintenance.

The F-150 isn’t the first nap-worthy vehicle

Of course, this isn’t the first time an automaker has thought to put a bed in a vehicle. Many of the old Nash cars had front bench seats that folded down to form a spacious interior bed. There was the VW van with its famous pop-up bed and fold-down rear seats, making it ideal for camping and a sought-after collector’s vehicle today.

Some minivan rear seats also fold completely flat, such as the old Chevy Astro Vans and GMC Safaris. When it comes to pickup trucks, though, the 2021 Ford F-150 may have a first with its fold-flat front seats.

The F-150 is a true multi-purpose vehicle

For the job site, camping, towing, or driving around town, the 2021 Ford F-150 is a truck that gets it done. It has been redesigned and target-built from the ground up for 2021 with available best-in-class horsepower, torque, and towing capacity. It’s the smartest and strongest Ford F-150 ever built with a military-grade, aluminum-alloy body.

As a truly multi-purpose vehicle, the 2021 Ford F-150 also doubles as a mobile office. A power, fold-down shifter makes way for a flat center console area that’s just right for a writing surface or for your laptop. There’s also lockable, under-seat storage and fold-flat rear seats.

The 2021 Ford F-150 will also be available for the first time with a full hybrid engine. The 3.5-liter V6 hybrid engine uses technology that pulls from both the gas and engines for the most efficient performance possible. This means that a full tank of gas will give you an EPA-estimated range of around 700 miles. Another class-exclusive feature is the available Pro Power Onboard that turns your truck into a mobile generator.

There’s a lot we still don’t know about the Max Recline seats coming in 2021, such as the price or if they’ll be part of a package. We do know these seats will only be available on Platinum, Limited, and King Ranch models of the Ford F-150 along with an exciting range of other features.
