What? Not again! The 2021 Ford Bronco faces another delay. But this delay depends on what type of roof you want. If you spring for the Ford Bronco with the painted modular hardtop then you may have to wait until 2022.
The 2021 Ford Bronco delay includes your roof
According to Auto Blog, the way you design your 2021 Ford Bronco model could delay it until 2022. The high-end modular hardtop roof option was supposed to be available for 2021, but now it’s unavailable until 2022.
Webasto supplies the tops, but they are facing delays related to the ongoing Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. If you preordered your Ford Bronco with this top, you don’t have to wait. You can switch from the black-mounted modular hardtop to the Carbonized Gray molded-in-color hardtop or a soft top.
If you want to stick with the painted modular hardtop, don’t worry. You will be price protected to receive a 2022 model. So, it will be the same price as the 2021 model. Also, you’ll be compensated with 200,000 FordPass points, which translates to $1,000 in free services or accessories at Ford dealerships.
You can take advantage of a $250 voucher for the Ford Bronco Off-Roadeo driving experience too. If you switch to the molded-in-color hardtop then the sound dampening headliner for $495 is now included for free.
Different Ford Bronco top options
There are multiple roof options for the 2021 Ford Bronco:
Two-door Ford Bronco models come with a standard molded-in-color removable hardtop. It comes in three pieces, like the Jeep Wrangler hardtop. The black-painted modular hardtop is optional on all trim levels except for the base trims.
The hardtop on the four-door models comes in four pieces. The Wildtrak and First-Edition four-door models were initially supposed to come with the black-painted hardtop, but now they will get the molded-in-color hardtop. Buyers of the four-door Bronco can combine the soft top with either of the two harp top types.
With the base model, Black Diamond, Putbanks, and Big Bend four-door models, you get a standard fabric soft top.
In 2022, a gloss-white modular hardtop will be available.
Is the Ford Bronco roof easy to remove?
According to Motor 1, it’s very easy to take the top off of the 2021 Ford Bronco. You can undress this SUV in a matter of minutes. With the hardtop, there are a few latches to rotate and pull. Then you can remove the panels without needing any tools.
To entirely remove the hardtop, you need to unplug a wiring harness and the washer fluid tube. It’s secured to the sides by four bolts that are easy to access. You’ll have to remove the roof rack first, too, and that required a special tool to unscrew unique triangle-shaped fasteners.
To remove the soft top, you can simply fold it back like a large sunroof. Straps are used to hold it in place so it won’t bounce around. To fully fold it back, you need to remove the side and rear panels that are held in place by buckles. You can totally remove the soft tip by removing the rear panels from the interior by unbuckling three fasteners.
