The price range for SUVs is pretty astounding. A brand new, fully loaded SUV can run you a pretty penny, and on the other end of the scale, you can find one for under $20,000. That’s right, we said one.

If you want a brand-new SUV and don’t want to spend more than 20K, the 2021 Chevy Trailblazer is for you. It stands alone in that category, and here are some details.

The Chevy Trailblazer is under $20,000

With a starting MSRP of $19,995, the Chevy Trailblazer squeaks under the line and presents an affordable option when you’re looking for an SUV, according to Cars.com. That is the total price for the vehicle including all options, freight, and destination charges.

The Trailblazer has great features on the base L trim, including a 137-horsepower, turbocharged engine, a continuously variable transmission, and smartphone connectivity. The engine also features direct injection and an automatic start/stop feature.

Standard advanced active safety features include automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, forward collision warning, and front pedestrian braking. It also has 10 airbags and the Chevy OnStar system with automatic crash detection as standard.

At this price point you’ve got your choice of exactly one exterior color and one interior color. Yes, the 2021 Chevy Trailblazer L trim only comes in Summit White on the outside and Jet Black on the inside. 16-inch steel wheels, front bucket seats, and versatile cargo configurations are standard.

The 2021 Chevy Trailblazer

The 2021 Chevy Trailblazer has a very distinct look, with a sculpted design and bold front end. It’s a small SUV crossover with a striking standard two-tone roof on RS and ACTIV that sets it apart.

Even the base model includes awesome features like a touchscreen infotainment system, AM/FM stereo, Bluetooth connectivity, voice command, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.

The new 2021 Chevy Trailblazer boasts a lot of room. There are clever storage options all over the place in the Trailblazer, starting with the center console that’s designed to keep everything you need in easy reach. It has best-in-class rear legroom, 60/40 split-folding rear seats, and 54.4 cubic feet of available cargo space to load in your stuff.

The Chevy Trailblazer has an efficient engine putting out 174 lb-ft of maximum torque, with an efficient 1.2 liter ECOTEC turbo engine. It can be equipped with all-wheel drive, but that takes you over the $20,000 mark.

Is a used SUV a better option?

While it is true you may be able to get better options or a more luxurious vehicle when you buy used, there is always that element of risk. It really depends on what you’re looking for.

According to CarMax.com, the top used SUVs under $20,000 are the Nissan Rouge, the Chevy Equinox, and the Ford Escape. And of course, you can find them in a wide variety of colors other than white.

A new Chevrolet like the Trailblazer comes with the owner benefit package Chevy Complete Care. It covers the first year of maintenance, a bumper to bumper 3-year or 36,000-mile warranty, a 5-year or 60,00-mile powertrain warranty, and a 6-year or 100,000-mile anti-corrosion warranty. Another benefit is 24-hour roadside assistance for 5 years or 60,000 miles that includes towing to your nearest Chevrolet dealership.

It’s really a personal choice whether you want to invest in a new vehicle, or get a more upgraded but potentially problematic vehicle. If you’re looking for the most affordable new SUV on the market, the new 2021 Chevy Trailblazer is worth a look.
