We know there is a lot of trucking news going on. The Jeep Gladiator is out, the new Nissan Frontier is on the way, people are still debating if the Honda Ridgeline is a real truck or not, and more. However, with all this commotion, the 2021 Chevy Colorado is being ignored, and it shouldn’t be. Check out why the new Chevy Colorado deserves your attention.

Is the 2021 Chevy Colorado a good truck?

Yes, the 2021 Chevy Colorado is an excellent truck. It has a brand new look for 2021 and tons of new power. It was even listed as one of the eight best new pickup trucks for 2021 that have already been unveiled.

There will probably be more new trucks that arrive, but these eight options are so epic that it might not be worth passing them up for whatever else comes out.

To make this list, trucks needed to bring new powertrains, improved off-roading capabilities, and new creature comforts to the table. This is because these features are becoming critical to potential buyers.

Now it’s true that the Chevy Colorado doesn’t have the best history. When it was discontinued in 2008, it was due to poor sales and low-reliability ratings.

But it has returned as a much improved midsized option. As you can see from CarComplaints, fewer problems have been reported since 2015, showing a more reliable truck.

What’s new for the 2021 Chevy Colorado?

Well, first of all, it has a brand new look. The most noticeable change includes its new, more aggressive face. Now the Chevy Colorado ZR2 off-roading trim looks even more distinct with a dark grille, red tow hooks, LED headlights, and more.

The 2021 Colorado has three different engine options. The 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine is adequate with 200 hp and 191 lb-ft of torque. Consider upgrading to the 3.6-liter V6 engine for 308 hp and 275 lb-ft of torque. Also, if you’re into diesel engines, then consider the 2.8-liter four-cylinder diesel engine for 181 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque.

With the new Colorado, you can tow up to 7,700 lb with the diesel engine. The V6 engine can also tow up to 7,000 lb. That’s one powerful work truck.

Plus, Car And Driver were able to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in only 6.1 seconds with the V6 engine. To be fair and honest, the four-cylinder engine is noted for being weak, slow, and grumpy.

Chevy Colorado features

The 2021 Chevy Colorado has an MSRP of $25,200. This is cheaper than the Toyota Tacoma, which begins at around $26,150. Also, it has an EPA estimated range of 20 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway, which is better than rivals.

While the interior is noticeably lacking an upscale feel due to cheap materials, it’s spacious and comfortable. There is a fair amount of cabin storage to take advantage of, including a deep center console.

The standard 7-inch infotainment center can connect to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. You can upgrade to an 8-inch screen. While the 2021 model hasn’t been tested for safety ratings yet, it does have available forward collision warning, lane departure warning, and rear parking sensor.
