For many people, they fondly remember long summer days at the lake as they rode a boat or a jet ski. As they finally made it to shore, they were exhausted, but in a good way. If that reminds you of your own past summers, you might be thinking of buying a jet ski, and may wonder how good the 2020 Sea-Doo GTI SE 170 is.

It’s not exactly cheap, but is it worth the money you’ll pay? Boating Magazine wrote a review on the 2020 Sea-Doo GTI SE 170 that you might find very interesting.

The 2020 Sea-Doo GTI SE 170 pros seem endless

The 2020 Sea-Doo GTI SE 170 is quite the feast for the eyes. It can seat up to three passengers or up to 600 pounds, so you can take more turns on the water.

The removable aft section allows you to lounge when you aren’t kicking up waves or hanging on for dear life. If you brought along some fishing gear, sit back and relax as you drop a line in the lake. The standard LinQ accessory mounts, recessed, and composite cleats allow you to anchor accessories like coolers, gas caddies, and storage caddies.

It can hold up to 15.9 gallons of fuel. This allows you to ride longer before you have to gas up. The GTI can also reach speeds of 55.2 mph in about 5 seconds.

The weight is about 739 lbs., making it lighter than some competitors. Most SUVs and trucks are more than capable of towing your jet ski, so you don’t have to worry about buying an appropriate vehicle to haul it back and forth.

The GTI is also easier than ever to ride. According to Boating Magazine, “Improved rider control comes via Sea-Doo’s ErgoLock saddle, which narrows like an hourglass to let riders use those stronger leg muscles, whether clamping against the saddle in rough water or providing leverage when powering through turns. A hard chine also pushes width to more than 4 feet, enhancing stability.”

The GTI also has an amazing sound system. The only thing better than jumping waves on your jet ski is doing it to a great song, and thanks to the 100-watt, Bluetooth sound system, you can pair it with your smart phone for ease of use. Then just stow your phone in the glove box where it will safe from swimming from the fishes.

Nothing is perfect

As shocking as this might be, there really isn’t much to complain about concerning the GTI SE 170. Boating Magazine didn’t have anything negative to say, and only one other critic found something they didn’t like, and that was minor.

According to Blue Wave Jet Ski Rentals, “My lone possible gripe would be that the control pad, located on the left speaker enclosure, is positioned a little tight to the helm console, but at worst it’s a minor grievance.”

The choice of using PolyTec, which is a type of plastic, for the body over the tried and tested fiberglass body has raised some eyebrows, but this has proven to be a benefit. The GTI is lighter than ever and doesn’t hinder acceleration.

Is the price worth what you pay?

The 2020 Sea-Doo GTI SE 170 costs $11,399. For the typical household, that’s far too much money to pay for something like a jet ski. That’s something you can either borrow from a friend or rent for the day.

Still, if you can afford one, you might be wondering if this is a good price. Given all the amenities offered on the Sea-Doo GTI SE 170, the price is more than worth it. The GTI got an excellent review with very few complaints, so if you’ve got your heart set on getting a jet ski, you could always do worse.
