While there are a fair number of car enthusiasts who really savor the sounds of a powerful engine, there are also plenty of folks who would prefer a slightly quieter, more peaceful experience. If this sounds like you, you might want to consider taking a look at the 2020 Ram 1500. This truck made the list of 17 Quietest Cars of 2020 compiled by U.S. News, and it has received some stellar ratings.

What you’ll get with the 2020 Ram 1500

Starting at approximately $32,145, the 2020 Ram 1500 has a 3.6-liter V6 that makes 305 hp. It gets 20 miles per gallon in the city and 25 miles per gallon on the highway, an excellent rating for a full-size truck. It can seat up to six passengers.

Standard features for this truck include cruise control, keyless start, and a backup camera. It also has a number of standard safety features, including brake assist and electronic stability control. Some other popular features, such as blind-spot monitoring and cross-traffic alert, are optional.

After receiving a full redesign in 2019, the Ram 1500 has been performing well among reviewers. In fact, this truck received an overall score of 9.0/10 from U.S. News. This is in part due to its lovely cabin, as well as its impressively quiet performance.

What makes this truck so quiet

Full-size pickup trucks generally don’t leap to mind when picturing a serene driving experience — so what exactly is it that makes the 2020 Ram 1500 so quiet? As it turns out, the answer lies largely with the truck’s impressive insulation.

On every Ram model, regardless of engine, the automaker opts to use noise-deadening acoustic glass. This alone is helpful, but Ram doesn’t stop there. If you choose the louder 5.7-liter V8 engine, rather than the standard V6, you’ll get active electronic noise cancellation. According to Ram, these measures help ensure that the interior of this truck doesn’t experience noise louder than approximately 67 decibels (which is just slightly quieter than a dishwasher).

Additionally, the 2020 model’s redesign included a change to its hood, which is now more raised. This is both an aesthetic and functional choice. The higher hood helps to redirect wind away from the windshield wipers, which can reduce irritating noises when driving at higher speeds.

All of these factors combine to create a vehicle that is incredibly quiet. U.S. News even goes so far as to state that the Ram 1500’s ride is serene “not just by truck standards.” Pretty impressive for a vehicle with such an aggressive look.

The Ram 1500’s beautiful interior

In addition to discussing its pleasantly quiet ride, we’d be remiss if we didn’t acknowledge the 2020 Ram 1500’s “futuristic” cabin, which U.S. News scored as an impressive 9.4/10. Full of high-quality materials and incredibly comfortable seating, it’s easy to imagine taking the Ram 1500 on longer journeys with no trouble at all.

U.S. News also lauds the Ram 1500’s infotainment system, which is straightforward and intuitive. The truck comes with a Uconnect interface that allows the driver to customize the display. If desired, an optional 12-inch display is also available. This has a split-screen view that can display Apple CarPlay alongside other menu options.

To top it all off, this truck is also highly reliable. It received a four-out-of-five predicted reliability rating from J.D. Power, placing it above average when compared to other trucks.

Overall, if you’re looking for a quiet ride, it’s pretty hard to go wrong with the 2020 Ram 1500. With its brand-new design, amazingly comfortable interior, and high predicted reliability ratings, this is a truck that can provide a peaceful driving experience without sacrificing performance.
