The new Porsche Taycan was easily one of the most talked-about cars of the year. Prepared to rival the country’s most hyped electric-car manufacturer, Tesla, the all-electric Taycan is a true game-changer for the brand and for the future of electric cars on the luxury market. For as much anticipation as there was for the newest member to the Taycan lineup, it doesn’t seem to be disappointing anyone.
True practicality from the Porsche Taycan
The Porsche Panamera was once everything that we loved about the brand wrapped into a more practical sedan. It is a great option if you don’t want something as big as the Cayenne, but you still wanted all of the luxury and performance that Porsche had to offer. Now with the option for an all-electric sedan, the Taycan promises just as much practicality. The front seats are spacious and comfortable, making it an easy choice if you need to make a long commute to work or want to take a road trip with the family.
The back seats are sporty with the option for a third middle seat, and they are just as comfortable to spend hours in. Like the Panamera, the Taycan has plenty of trunk space, but because there is no engine sitting under the hood, you can find additional storage there as well.
Some impressive performance
If you watched videos of the Porsche Taycan launching from an impressive 2.6 second 0 – 60 mph, I can assure you that it does very little to display just how fast this car is. While the range of horsepower varies between the different trim levels, you can expect to get some impressive sports car level performance.
While driving the car, you can feel just how heavy it is, weighing in at over 5,000 pounds, it is far from a Lotus Elise. You can feel the weight of the car as you accelerate, but it handles turns and corners with impressive agility and almost no noticeable body roll.
An all-around champion
When it comes to buying a new daily driver, you usually have to make sacrifices. You might sacrifice performance to have the extra space or fuel economy that you need in your day-to-day life, or you might sacrifice comfort and back seats to get a sportier vehicle. With the Porsche Taycan, you don’t have to sacrifice anything. Switching between driving modes allows you to pick settings that promote responsible fuel economy, but that’s far from the best part.
The back seats make it a great option for a family vehicle, with enough space in the front and rear storage compartments for groceries, backpacks, and even soccer gear. Drop the kids off at school, and you can switch the car into a more dynamic sport mode, and you might even forget that you’re not driving a true sports car.
