Full-size SUVs have continued to grow in popularity over the years. Some people consider the full-size SUVs to be a more stylish version of the minivan. And while they do have an abundance of passenger space and a wide range of comfort features, many of them also offer the power and performance features of a pickup truck. When it comes to third-row SUVs, two of the most popular models available on the market today are the Toyota Highlander and the Kia Telluride.

At first glance, these two vehicles may look very similar. However, once you start to look at the individual features that they offer, you can see that they offer drivers a totally different driving experience. To better illustrate exactly what we are talking about, here is a comparison of the 2020 Toyota Highlander and the 2020 Kia Telluride.

The 2020 Kia Telluride

When you first look inside the Kia Telluride, you can tell that the interior was specifically designed with comfort and convenience in mind. It offers more interior space than any other Kia SUV. It provides plenty of legroom and head space for up to eight passengers and offers spacious third-row seats that can easily accommodate full-grown adults.

The Telluride also has a large cargo area in the back, and just in case you do need a little more space, the back seat can fold flat to create up to 46 cubic feet of cargo space.

The interior also comes equipped with the latest technology to help to keep you and all of your passengers entertained. The Telluride comes standard with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment display, but higher trim levels come with a large 10.3-inch touchscreen display.

Both displays come equipped with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth capabilities. And to ensure that everyone is able to stay connected during long road trips, all trim levels offer at least one USB charging port in each row.

The Kia Telluride features a 3.8-liter V6 engine that’s paired with an eight-speed transmission and provides an impressive 291 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque. Front-wheel drive is standard; however, an all-wheel-drive platform is available but only on the S trim or higher.

The 2020 Toyota Highlander

The Toyota Highlander has always been the Kia Telluride’s biggest competitor, and this year, the Highlander decided to up the ante by completely redesigned the interior and exterior.

Inside the Highlander, you will find three spacious rows of seats that, like the Telluride, are capable of comfortably seating up to eight passengers. Thanks to its slightly longer body, the 2020 Highlander offers more room than ever before. The rear features 16 cubic feet of cargo space, but if you fold down the back seats, you can have up to 48.4 cubic feet of space.

The Highlander also comes standard with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment display. However, in higher trim levels and extra-large 12.3-inch display is available and both sizes come equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There are also several USB ports located throughout the cabin and higher trim levels offer a wireless phone charger located in the center console.

The Highlander offers a little more power than the Telluride. Its 3.5-liter V6 engine is able to produce up to 295 hp and 263 lb-ft of torque. However, both the Telluride and the Highlander have an estimated towing capacity of 5,000 pounds.
