The 2020 Jeep Wrangler Is Surprisingly Good on Tech

When we typically think of the Jeep Wrangler, its exceptional performance and effortless style come to mind first. In 2020, we still celebrate the Wrangler for its off-road capability and its dependability. But some may be surprised to know that the 2020 Wrangler is one of the best SUVs when it comes to in-car technology. The 2020 …

The 2020 Jeep Wrangler offers many desirable tech features

What makes the 2020 Jeep Wrangler so unique is that it can be as straightforward or as decorated as you want it to be. The Wrangler offers an advanced Uconnect touchscreen infotainment display system that’s intuitive and easy to use. If you want to keep things simple, the Wrangler’s standard infotainment features are just fine and don’t comprise its vintage-inspired interior.

The Wrangler comes with an easy-to-use 5-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth connection, and an eight-speaker stereo. This SUV also comes with two 12-volt outlets, and a USB port makes staying plugged in that much easier. On the other hand, if you would like to load your Wrangler with lots of tech, you will want to upgrade it with Jeep’s Technology Group package. This package costs $995.

Choosing the Technology Group package adds a 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a one-year SiriusXM subscription. Mid-level trims like the Sahara trim have these items as standard features. Other available features include an 8.4-inch touchscreen, a wifi hotspot, and an Alpine sound system.

Safety features

Safety feature-wise, the Wrangler isn’t as impressive. There aren’t many  advanced safety features available on this SUV, but the upper-level trims have items such as forward-collision warning and blind-spot monitoring. Hopefully, Jeep improves on the Wrangler’s safety offerings for 2021.

Additional Wrangler interior features to be aware of

There are many different trim levels for the Wrangler, so picking the right one based on your needs can seem overwhelming. The standard two-door seats four while the four-door body style seats five. Overall, the Wrangler offers a comfortable cabin with plenty of headroom.

For the perfect blend of simplicity and modern tech, we recommend going with the Wrangler Sport S trim level, which starts at $34,995. Wranglers come with a 285-horsepower, 3.6-liter V6 engine that works just fine. However, we agree with critics like Car and Driver that it’s worth equipping your Wrangler with the optional 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 270-hp and 295 pound-feet of torque. There’s a new Ecodiesel engine option available too.

Simply put, the Wrangler is a well-rounded SUV

The Wrangler is still so popular after all these years because it’s perfect for off-roading excursions and is even fit for city living. This SUV also features plenty of trim levels and powertrain options that aims to please a variety of different drivers. Very few rivals can match the Wrangler when it comes to being a versatile SUV.

While there’s a lot to love about the 2020 Wrangler, keep in mind that this model has been recalled three times. These recalls relate to the Wrangler’s suspension, powertrain, and backup camera. If the 2020 Wrangler is your dream car, make sure to address these trouble spots with your auto dealer.
