Yee-haw, it’s an excellent time to save on the 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 and GMC sierra 1500 if you want a light-duty pickup truck that runs on diesel. General Motors is reducing the price of its diesel-burning trucks.

Save on the 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 Turbo Diesel

GM is providing a nation-wide $1,500 price cut for the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra when they are ordered with the turbo diesel engine. This discount applies to the trucks currently in stock and transit.

This deal isn’t just to clear out the 2020 inventory, because it applies to the 2021 models as well. Now the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado double cab LT with two-wheel drive is the cheapest diesel truck offered by GM, and it begins around $44,000. This includes the $1,595 destination fee.

If you order the same truck with the 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which is the smallest and cheapest option, it begins around $38,795. Selecting the most powerful 6.2-liter V8 engine raises the price by over $5,000. So, General Motors has decided to make their diesel lineup more affordable compared to gas options.

2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 diesel power

The Chevy Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 are powered by a 3.0-liter straight-six Duramax engine, which provides 277 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. It comes standard with rear-wheel drive, but with 4×4, this configuration can tow up to 9,300 lb with a maximum payload of 1,870 lb.

The engine is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission that’s said to run very smoothly and quietly. It’s a new engine that was introduced in 2019. It also has a mass-damper-equipped torque converter, meaning you won’t be shaken up or have to deal with engine vibrations in this truck.

You can get about 23 mpg in the city and up to 33 mpg in the city with the diesel Chevy Silverado. This is a pretty impressive fuel economy for a large, heavy body-on-frame pickup. Ram estimates that its diesel-powered 1500 will get up to 32 mpg.

2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 features

The Chevy Silverado just received a redesign with an all-new look in 2019, so it won’t change much for 2021. The engines will be carried over. However, rumors suggest that the Chevy Silverado 1500 could get a new face in 2022.

You can build your 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 the way you want. It can come with standard vinyl seats without the bells and whistles, or you can make it luxurious. It offers massive leather seats, ventilated seats, a head’s up display, wireless phone charging, carbon fiber reinforced cargo bed, and more.

New features for 2020 also include adaptive cruise control and camera technology that’s shared with the 2020 Chevy Silverado HD. Now you have even more camera angles to assist with hitching your trailer.

The Chevy Silverado can connect to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. For a pretty penny, you can also add built-in navigation and a Bose audio system. Available safety features include forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear-cross traffic alert, lane departure warning, and lane-keeping assistance.
