The word ‘recall’ strikes fear into the hearts of owners and potential buyers everywhere. If you’ve never really had to deal with a recall, they can sound pretty intimidating and even scary when you read the description. For the 2019 Subaru Ascent, there are some pretty terrifying-sounding recalls already, but they might not be as bad as they seem. In fact, there’s a chance that you could buy a 2019 Subaru Ascent and never need recall work done. Confused? Let me explain.

Owners love the 2019 Subaru Ascent

As 2021 model years for cars start to hit the lot, our 2019 model years are looking a little bit older. Chances are if you’re looking to buy one at this point, you are looking at the used car market. While buying a used car can be a little bit more stressful than buying one brand new, there are some advantages. For the 2019 Subaru Ascent, you can find them on the used car market for a slight mark-down of the new-car price. Savings aside, there is a chance the recall work has already been dealt with if it even needed any, to begin with.

Not all of the 2019 model years for the Subaru Ascent will need recall work because recalls usually only affect a percentage of cars on the market. Depending on what time of year the vehicle was manufactured or a handful of other factors, sometimes as few as a thousand cars out of tens of thousands can be affected by a recall. For this year of Ascent, there is a large percentage of recalls that affect vehicles on the road today, but you can quickly check if the car you own or are looking to purchase requires recall work by typing the VIN into the Subaru recall database for free.

Concerning-sounding recalls

The 2019 Subaru Ascent has five pretty serious sounding recalls. Some of them affect the car’s fuel system, which can cause some terrifying problems if they aren’t handled. Others concern the drivetrain and exhaust or various other major mechanical components. Because the issues have already been identified, you can head off any problems by taking your car into the nearest Subaru dealership to have the recalls serviced before any problems actually occur.

All of those problems sound scary and expensive, but having recall work done is completely free. Many manufacturers cover the complete cost of any recall work and may even give you a loaner vehicle until the work is completed. As long as you stay ahead of the problem, the recalls aren’t all that bad. Because they are free all it takes is a little bit of time.

Regardless of these recalls Subaru owners still really seem to love the 2019 Ascent and everything it has to offer. It is a very capable and practical SUV, and you might not guess it from the outside but it actually has a handful of high-quality luxury features inside that might leave you a little surprised. The recall work might sound serious, but it doesn’t seem to stop current owners from enjoying the car, so it probably isn’t worth skipping the test drive.
