Electric vehicles are becoming a competitive market segment in the auto industry. As consumers become more interested in reducing their environmental footprint, automakers are creating options that are not only economical but powerful as well. Audi released its first all-electric vehicle and industry analysts and consumers are equally impressed. Similar to other models in their product line, the Audi E-Tron is not only well-designed but provides luxury and style both inside and out.

The class-leading 2019 Audi E-Tron has become so popular that it’s destroying the competition.

The impressive 2019 Audi E-Tron

The spacious electric SUV is delightfully quiet, as well as quick. Its versatility and above-average ride and handling make the E-Tron comparable to a gas-powered vehicle.

The strong performance of the 2019 Audi E-Tron is attributed to the use of two motors that operate independently. The rear motor puts out 224 hp with 262 lb-ft of torque while the front motor hits 184 hp and 228 lb-ft. Quattro electric torque vectoring is available instantaneously with no need for a multi-gear transmission.

The all-weather vehicle can handle light off-road driving and is capable of towing up to 4,000 pounds with the available tow package. The family-friendly SUV can accommodate five adult-sized passengers with plenty of room in the back seat. Known for the use of high-quality materials, Audi doesn’t disappoint with the design of the interior cabin. The stylish exterior offers impressive power and traction while providing a quiet, comfortable ride.

The agile luxury vehicle has a starting price of $74,800. The Car Connection says, “The 2019 Audi E-Tron is the way for families to go fully electric in a familiar and very luxurious package.”

The Best Green Car award

The electrical grid in the United States is becoming greener every day as it increases its reliance on sustainable energy sources such as wind and solar. As electric vehicles become a more popular choice, consumers realize that the energy efficiency of an electric motor is much better than that found in a gasoline-powered engine.

The Car Connection relies on its experts to rate and review new vehicles. This time around, they asked their readers to determine which vehicle was the “Best Green Car.”

The 2019 Audi E-Tron received first place, with 46 percent of the vote. The 2020 Tesla Model Y was a frontrunner, but only 15 percent of responders selected the popular e-vehicle.

Taking third place, with 15 percent of the vote, was the 2019 Kia Niro. Other nominees included the 2020 Porsche Taycan, getting 10 percent of the vote, and the 2020 Toyota RAV4 that came in fifth place with eight percent. The 2020 Ford Escape rounded out the list, getting six percent of the vote.

How the Audi E-Tron stands out from the competition

According to the survey results, consumers were so impressed with the 2019 Audi E-Tron because of the phenomenal fuel economy and estimated 200 miles of real-world range.

The tailpipe-emissions-free SUV has several energy-saving features. The E-Tron is one of the fastest-charging electric vehicle SUVs on the market, reaching 80 percent in just under 30 minutes on a 150-kW DC fast charger. A Level 2 AC charger, similar to that found installed in a home, can charge the SUV in about nine hours.

The climate is controlled by a standard heat pump that takes waste heat from the high-voltage battery. This thermal management system utilizes less energy and increases the range by 10 percent.

The Audi E-Tron recovers energy when the driver releases the accelerator or presses the brake pedal. Kinetic energy turns into electrical power, with both motors functioning as generators.
