Under the hood of this Alfa Romeo model is a turbocharged four-cylinder engine churning out 280 horsepower. Opt for the Giulia Quadrifoglio, and you can expect a 505-horsepower twin-turbocharged V6 under the hood of this luxury car.

However, according to U.S. News & World Report, regardless of which engine setup you opt for, “With its strong brakes, precise steering, and athletic handling, the Giulia drives more like a sports car than many others in the class.”

2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia interior features

The Alfa Romeo Giulia has a responsive infotainment system that’s easy to use. Between the climate control vents and the dash top lies the optional 6.5-inch or 8.8-inch display. There are three USB ports, and Bluetooth connectivity is standard. However, you won’t find Android Auto and Apple CarPlay in the 2017 Romeo Giulia.

While people in the back seat might complain about the cramped quarters, Car and Driver reports those sitting up front will enjoy the generous legroom and headroom while sitting on comfortable, bolstered seats. Owners of this used luxury car will also enjoy using the rearview camera, rear parking sensors, and the push-button start.

Safety features and crash test ratings

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) awarded the 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia as a 2017 Top Safety Pick, which only applies to vehicles with specific headlights built after May 2017. Vehicles must also be equipped with optional front crash prevention.

This used luxury car received Good ratings, except for headlights (G/P), LATCH ease of use for seat belts, and child restraints (Marginal). The vehicle doesn’t have curve-adaptive lights, and the low beams create excessive glare. They also had inadequate visibility on curves.

Has this luxury car been recalled before?

According to Cars.com, there have been two recalls concerning the 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia. In November 2018, 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia vehicles with a GME 280HP engine and all-wheel drive experienced issues where the brake fluid line sometimes contacted a coolant hose clamp, causing the brake fluid to leak onto the exhaust and create a potential risk for fire.

In September 2018, there was a recall for the Alfa Romeo Giulia cars equipped with 2.0-liter engines as they would misfire and cause the catalytic converter to overheat and damage nearby wiring and engine compartments.

Is the Alfa Romeo Giulia worth buying?
