What’s better is that experts at Consumer Reports estimate the average retail price of a used 2013 Chevy Volt can dip as low as just-above $7,000.  That means it’s very possible to find a good used Chevy Volt for under $10,000. The Chevy Volt made its debut a few years before the 2013 model, so a few improvements had been made. This makes the 2013 model year one of the best, obvious from its overall score by U.S. News experts of 8.1/10. Aside from being one of the best model years among the Volt family, the 2013 Chevy Volt is simply a good hybrid car. In fact, there are plenty of reasons to fall in love with it.

According to U.S. News, the 2013 Chevy Volt “delivers confident acceleration and a longer all-electric driving range than most plug-in hybrids.” The Volt’s “responsive electric drivetrain” and “agile handling” give it “zippy driving dynamics.” In addition to good safety and reliability scores, the Chevy Volt offers incredible fuel-economy ratings even by today’s standards. 

What owners get with the 2013 Chevy Volt’s low price tag

The Chevy Volt is considered an extended-range EV, using two electric motors paired with a lithium-ion battery pack, making a total of 149 hp. It can run for 38 miles on all-electric power and can charge in as little as four hours. The plug-in hybrid is paired to a four-cylinder engine that will start up and recharge the battery pack. Combined, this provides up to “382 miles of driving range between fill-ups.” When in its standard hybrid mode, the Volt earns an impressive EPA-estimated 37 MPG (combined).

As if fuel-efficiency isn’t enough reason to consider the cheap 2013 model, there is more. Seating in the Volt is comfortable, with a cabin that “looks particularly upscale, due to its futuristic dashboard design and quality soft-touch materials.”

Interior features include a 7.0-inch touchscreen MyLink infotainment system and Bluetooth connectivity. Although advanced safety features weren’t considered standard equipment on the 2013 Chevy Volt, it should be very easy to find them in a used model. This is because two safety packages were made available: the first offering a rearview camera and rear sensors, while the second adds forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, and front parking sensors.
