The American auto market proved robust through August, as numerous cars across different nameplates achieved their best sales month ever. Manufacturers were basking in the most positive sales climates seen since before the financial crisis, and pent-up demand and improving broad economic conditions continued to spur growth.

In August, Japanese manufacturers were able to solidify their firm grip on the top 10 best sellers. Even Toyota’s Prius made the cut, as the yen continued to slide against the dollar and pushed the price advantage toward the export-driven country.

However, trucks remained the cornerstone of the group — the F-Series, Silverado, and Ram maintained strong positions during the monthly rankings.
