Texas road rager pulls a shotgun on an elderly driver for driving too slow

Charlton Powell, a long-time resident of Cedar Creek, Texas, always took pride in being a safe driver. He was never issued a ticket for speeding, reckless driving, or anything—his record is clean. One day, he was heading to town with some precious cargo.
“I was in my ’07 Chevrolet truck. I had a cattle trailer behind me with a calf in it,” he told FOX 7. He was the only one on the 35 mph road—until he wasn’t. Seemingly out of nowhere, a red pickup truck came up on his tail.
Not soon after, the driver pulled in front of him and slammed the brakes. Powell knew the man wasn’t friendly by the way he was acting. And because he reached into his truck and pulled out a shotgun before approaching Powell’s truck.
“This man got in the bar ditch passing me and I came over, and he went on out in the bar ditch further and then came back, cut me off and jumped out of his truck,” Powell recalled.
He grabbed a pistol he kept in his truck and had it ready.
“If he’d ever raised the barrel, that would have been the end of the hunt for him because I’d unloaded on him,” said Powell.
Thankfully, Powell recorded the entire incident
The man ended up driving away after Powell reasoned with him. In the recording, Powell was telling the man that several kids play on that road, and asked if he’d like it if his children were run over because of their disagreement.
The man said he had an appointment, and Powell instructed him to “get” and put his gun away. So, the man went. He also told him he was being recorded.
When he returned home, he submitted the footage to his local Sheriff’s department. He sincerely hopes they do something. The Sheriff’s department confirmed they were investigating the incident.
“I want them to arrest him,” he told reporters. “He pulled a shotgun on me. He might pull a shotgun on you before you get to Austin.”
Viewers felt no sympathy for the shotgun wielder
Almost 2,000 people commented on FOX 7’s video. None of them felt sorry for the man who pulled a shotgun on an elderly man for driving the speed limit.
“He grabbed a gun to threaten an elderly guy going the speed limit,” wrote a viewer. “Wow.”
Someone else noted that the driver’s logic didn’t quite add up.
“I’m in a rush because I have an appointment, but I have enough time to get out of my vehicle and threaten a man with a shotgun,” they wrote. “Make it make sense.”
Another found humor in the fact that Powell had a weapon, too.
“Road rager thought he was intimidating the old dude when in reality the old guy was just waiting to light him up the whole time,” they wrote.
