Seattle is proving to be a dangerous place to be a Tesla owner. Over the past month, vandals have defaced six Cybertrucks, painting swastikas and “Elon Musk” on the sides and rear to imply a Nazi connection.

A man with a matte black Cybertruck was one of the six defaced with a swastika. He chose to remain anonymous but shared his thoughts as a Jewish man.

“I really think it’s a message of ignorance and being uneducated,” the owner told KOMO. “If you’re doing this to people that work 9 to 5, that make a living, you’re doing this to people who already purchased the vehicle from Elon.”

The man couldn’t understand why people were vandalizing Teslas that Elon already profited from. He said, instead, the vandals were hurting drivers who may not support Musk’s actions, either.

“He already has our money, why would you purposefully do this to people that work hard, work every day to afford nice luxuries, and you’re going against people who work 9 to 5, I don’t get that,” he continued.

Organized protestors say it wasn’t them

Police are investigating a fire over the weekend that destroyed four Cybertrucks. Devin Hermanson, a local who’s helped organize protests against Musk’s involvement in the government. He said property damage isn’t his style.

“It’s not my approach; it’s not the approach of the people around me,” he said. “It’s just not the way we do things, and in some ways I think it’s not really helpful. I want people to see us as a peaceful movement. We’re not interested in damaging property or harming people… We’re interested in bringing down the stock price of Tesla.”

While he doesn’t condone the vandal’s actions, he said he could definitely sympathize.

“As long as people don’t feel they’re being heard, they’re watching their democracy be dismantled, they feel they need an outlet, then they’re gonna start acting out in ways that sometimes we don’t like,” he continued.

“I don’t want that, but I can understand where it comes from.”

Trump says he’ll charge those who vandalize Teslas with terrorism

KOMO reporters asked Trump as he exited a car with Musk what he plans to charge them with. Telling the president directly, the reporter shared that some locals want the vandals charged with domestic terrorism.

“Yeah, I will do that, yeah,” Trump said. “We’re going to stop them… We catch anybody doing it—because they’re harming a great American company.”

The FBI confirmed it’s investigating the recent attacks against privately owned vehicles. Not just in Seattle but across the country.

“The FBI is working with our law enforcement partners to investigate a number of incidents in which Tesla charging stations and dealerships were damaged. Incidents have occurred in several states, and the FBI is coordinating with federal, state, and local law enforcement partners to gather information,” reads the agency’s statement.

“We would like to remind members of the public that if they observe anything suspicious or have information about potential threats to report it to local law enforcement immediately.”
