The Tesla Cybertruck is the American electric vehicle and clean energy company’s long-awaited electric pickup truck model. How does it compare to Ford’s first electric pickup truck, the Ford F-150 Lightning? Will the Tesla Cybertruck be the more popular electric pickup truck?

According to LeaseFetcher.co.uk, internet users search for the Tesla Cybertruck an average of 276,000 times a month in America. Users search for the Ford F-150 Lightning 81,000 times a month in America. The Tesla Cybertruck is more popular in terms of search volume, but will that translate to real-world sales?

The Tesla Cybertruck has amassed over a million pre-orders according to InsideEVs. Tesla’s electric truck has more than five times the number of pre-orders that the Ford F-150 Lightning has. When those pre-orders are fulfilled, the Cybertruck will be the more popular truck. The question is, will Tesla be able to maintain that popularity?

Tesla is easily one of the most popular electric vehicle automakers in the world. Its vehicles sell well internationally and models like the Tesla Model Y and Tesla Model 3 have been very successful. The Cybertruck can dominate the market as the most popular electric pickup truck if things go without a hitch for its first drivers. Cybertrucks have been delayed time and time again, and many consumers are already frustrated with the ordering process.

The Cybertruck could secure a lead in the race to become the most popular electric pickup truck thanks to its unique design. However, if Tesla continues to have issues on the customer service end and securing a Cybertruck proves to be much more difficult over time than buying a Ford electric truck, the F-150 Lightning could gain an edge.

The Ford F-150 Lightning is already rapidly gaining in popularity

The Ford F-150 Lightning is changing the way that Americans look at work trucks. The F-150 Lightning features more storage space than previous F-150 models thanks to its Mega Power Frunk. The electric pickup truck also has multiple electrical outlets that owners can use to power tools and appliances. The F-150 Lightning is practically a tool itself.

Ford’s electric pickup truck is available with Pro Power Onboard, a feature that allows it to double as a backup generator for a home. The Blue Oval has already increased F-150 Lightning production to try and meet demand. It is a much-anticipated EV and the beginning of a bright electric future alongside the Ford Mustang Mach-E.

Tesla Cybertruck vs. Ford F-150 Lightning: Which electric pickup truck should you buy?

The Tesla Cybertruck and Ford F-150 Lightning are both expected to start in the $39,990-$42,000 price range. Tesla Cybertruck models have an estimated 800 max horsepower. F-150 Lightning models have a maximum of 563 horsepower.

The Cybertruck is the more unique electric pickup truck in terms of design and features. The F-150 Lightning is the classic American work truck but electrified. The better model will come down to how the trucks are as daily drivers. Will the electric American work truck claim the hearts of consumers, or will it be outshined by Tesla’s futuristic electric pickup?
