The Tesla Cybertruck is far from being the most American made truck
I apologize to Tesla bros and Elon Musk fans. My intention isn’t to crush dreams, but I must provide the truth about trucks! While the Tesla Cybertruck is made in America, it’s not the most American-made truck.
What’s the most American-made truck?
According to Bezinga, the most American-made truck for 2025 is the Honda Ridgeline. A Japanese truck takes the crown, which feels a bit ironic.
Especially because the Tesla Cybertruck promotes being patriotic by touting available jobs and sourcing materials in the United States.
About 75% of the Ridgeline’s materials are sourced in the United States or Canada. Only 65% of the Cybertruck’s materials are sourced in North America. So, the Cybertruck is close but gets no cigar.
The Ridgeline is actually tied with the most American-made vehicle overall. The Tesla Model 3 also sources 75% of its content from America and Canada.
When you think of American-made trucks, Ford probably comes to mind. However, both the gas-powered and electric versions of the Ford F-150 only source 50% of their content from America and its hat.
The Honda Ridgeline is assembled in Lincoln, Alabama. This plant also manufactures the Honda Pilot SUV, Passport SUV, and Odyssey minivan.

While the final assembly of the Ridgeline occurs in America, the engine and transmission are both sourced here too. The Tesla Cybertruck is manufactured in the Gigafactory in Austin, Texas. This is also where the Tesla Model Y is built.
Electric vehicles benefit from being built in America. The Inflation Reduction Act provides American-made EVs with eligibility for a $7,500 tax credit to promote domestic clean energy manufacturing.
This targets potential EV customers by lowering costs. However, electric vehicles are typically more expensive than gas-powered options.
While Honda has plans to adopt EVs, the Honda Ridgeline remains all gas for now. However, the Honda Ridgeline Hybrid could be introduced in 2025.
