Tennessee driver gets truck and trailer stuck in fresh cement
The Department of Transportation (DOT) in Tennessee would like to remind drivers that ignoring road barriers is a dumb idea.
They shared that even if you don’t see crews actively working in the work zone, there are multiple reasons why driving around barrels puts your safety and the condition of your vehicle at risk.
One pickup truck driver learned this the hard way after impatiently sitting in traffic. He saw open lanes of traffic sitting behind some orange barrels and made a break for freedom.
As he accelerated to fly through congestion, his Ford truck and trailer quickly came to a halt. He was driving in a lane with fresh cement that a road crew had just put down.
According to Yahoo, the driver couldn’t tell that the cement was wet and didn’t see any workers, so he assumed that the cones weren’t placed there for any important reasons.
He didn’t end up saving any time while waiting for a tow truck to pull him out of this mess. On top of tons of damage to repair, police officers gave him several citations. Plus, the road crew returned later to repair the damage he caused.
The Ford driver made the traffic he was trying to drive around much worse. Drivers got to look at him and his truck as they crawled by.
