Mom sparks internet debate over ‘unspoken’ Target parking lot rule
The parking debate was so heated, her video has nearly 30,000 comments.
Stefany, a TikToker (@unsolicitedsarcasm) on the East Coast, posts parenting videos on outfits, toddler meals, and working from home. Viewers reacted wildly to a recent video she posted from a Target parking lot, “suggesting” drivers without kids keep moms in mind.
“We all have the same unspoken rule, right?” Stefany asks in her video, pointing a finger toward an empty parking spot beside a cart corral. “If you’re shopping without kids and this spot is open, that’s not for you.”
Stefany wrote in the video’s caption that the spot next to the cart corral is a “safety thing” for “moms shopping solo with their kiddos.”
Stefany argued, “That spot’s for a mom with their kids that needs to come and unload right next to the car drop, right?”
Viewers were not on her side
Her tone seemed to matter more than her words, as viewers quickly jumped to defend childless Target shoppers.
“Never heard of this,” wrote a viewer. “I managed to raise three kids without expecting the world to revolve around me. My kids are grown now. I’ll park there if I want to.”
Other viewers wrote the “unspoken rule” was only for those who feel entitled.
“Maybe it’s so unspoken that no one’s ever heard about it,” wrote a viewer, earning 11,000 likes.
Another viewer suggested leaving the spot open for other shoppers as well.
“As a senior, I choose that spot. I grab a cart for balance and can return it when I am done,” their comment read.
Others wrote her video inspired them to seek the spot if it’s open from now on because of the entitlement.
