This brash SUV takes the qualities of the regular Bronco and turns the dial up several notches. The 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor receives a significant power bump

Anyone who grew up watching the sitcom Home Improvement will remember Tim Allen shouting out “More Power” during every episode. While the appliances he juiced up were often ruined, the Bronco Raptor can stand the added boost. MotorTrend tells us the Raptor version of this Ford brings a significant increase of power to your drive with a strong 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine. You’ll experience the fun that 400 horsepower and 415 lb.-ft. of torque can give you in this juiced-up SUV.

By comparison, the standard versions of the Bronco use either a 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine that makes 275 horsepower and 315 lb.-ft. of torque, or a 2.7-liter twin-turbocharged V6 that offers 315 horsepower and 410 lb.-ft. of torque. Neither is quite up to the level of the Raptor.

Ford takes a page out of the Jeep book

The formula for success in the Jeep Wrangler has always begun with the Dana 44 solid axles situated at both ends of the vehicle. The Raptor version of the Bronco uses a Dana 44 axle in the front and a Dana 50 in the rear. These axles are proven to be the right way to have amazing off-road capabilities on any trail.

What are those axles turning on this SUV?

The Ford Bronco Raptor has the largest set of tires put on any production vehicle. These tires are 37-inches in size and give this off-road SUV the stance needed to take on any challenge.

These tires create a track that is 85.7 inches from one side to the other, which means the center of the tires matches the Bronco’s body. The fenders are flared more dramatically than with the standard version of this SUV to ensure these tires fit underneath.

The tires are certainly impressive, but the addition of the long-travel suspension makes it possible for you to drive over everything in your path and go places other off-road vehicles cannot.

Is this enough hardcore off-road equipment for your adventures?

The Wrangler Rubicon 392 gives us the legendary off-road packaging we expect from Jeep. This SUV uses the power of a massive Hemi V8 engine that produces 470 horsepower and 470 lb.-ft. of torque. This increased power might be enough to keep the Bronco Raptor from dethroning this Jeep.

Maybe there’s hope for the Ford Bronco Raptor

The Ford F-150 Raptor was created for high-speed desert driving. When the situation calls for it, the Bronco Raptor offers the same experience. The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392, on the other hand, is not made for this type of off-road driving. Instead, the Wrangler is adept at low-speed crawling along the rocks to take you over rough terrain. The Bronco Raptor can handle this drive as well while giving you more.

Which hardcore off-road SUV should you drive?

If you want to have an off-roader that can truly tackle all types of terrain, the Ford Bronco Raptor is the right choice for you. Do you want an SUV that offers more power to handle boulders, downed trees, and low-speed driving? If so, the higher torque number of the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 could be what you need.
