The Tesla “Truckla” is a custom-made Tesla pickup truck model predating the official reveal of the Tesla Cybertruck. The Truckla was made from Tesla Model 3 electric compact sedan model produced and sold by Tesla (formerly Tesla Motors Inc.).
Taking her Tesla Model 3 with a Signature Red paint job, YouTuber and craftswoman Simone Giertz heavily modified the vehicle, removing its back seats and trunk to install a truck bed. Uploading the step-by-step process and end result to YouTube months before the Tesla Cybertruck was revealed in June 2019, the videos went viral, launching Giertz and the Tesla Truckla into stardom.
As a one-of-a-kind custom-made model, the Tesla Truckla isn’t available for sale, though other engineers and Tesla owners have likely attempted to create their own by following Giertz’s process. However, the Truckla still retains fame as the only driveable Tesla pickup truck while driving fans await the release of the long-delayed Tesla Cybertruck.
