Journey
The Dodge Journey was a budget midsize SUV model produced and sold by the Dodge division of Stellantis (formerly Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA)). Discontinued in 2020, the Dodge Journey was Dodge’s smallest and cheapest SUV during its run, sized and priced below the Dodge Durango midsize SUV and the Dodge Grand Caravan minivan.
The Dodge Journey (sold in some markets as the Fiat Freemont) first premiered at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show. Built on a modified Avenger platform, the Journey was introduced to replace the outgoing Chrysler Pacifica crossover SUV (which returned in 2017 as a minivan).
The Dodge Journey only lasted one (very long) generation from 2008 to 2020. While very affordable as a budget vehicle, the Journey was often criticized for its performance, handling, and lack of features. Finally, when Dodge decided to transition into a fully performance-focused brand, both the Grand Caravan and Journey models were discontinued. During its run, the Journey’s rivals included the Mitsubishi Outlander, the Nissan Rogue, and the Volkswagen Tiguan.
